I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees that. You could pick a regular joe from the street, give him the most rudimentary understanding of diablo lore and he would've come up with a better plot (and an ending) than whoever was writing/approving the story we got.

Plus, I don't buy this bullshit cop out with the token asian girl not being corrupted by the soulstone because "akarat gave all he had to protect her". I don't remember if that's how it actually played out, but it just goes to show the quality of writing. She should've gotten the axe by the end of that story. Abysmal self-inserts, I hate when writers do this in the most obvious manner possible.

How much Obducite (masterworks material) can you get with nightmare dungeons in 12 minutes?

I farm Infernal Hordes for masterworks material, I timed myself and on a single 10 wave cap run, it takes me about 12 minutes and I take around a little more than 2k masterworks materials.
People are always telling me Nightmare Dungeons give better material rewards but I'm really struggling to get the same amount (2k) in 12 minutes of speeding through NMD.
Am I missing something or are other people just being inefficient with Infernal Hordes?

The cap is actually 200% (my bad) which splits into 2 100% caps. On Spiritborn the Ferocity multiplier is Cap 2 whereas AS affix, Paragon nodes, Moonrise, Elixirs and Mercs are all Cap 1. Basically whatever Blizzard chooses.

Only do the new expansion dungeons as NMDs. Old ones are really inefficient. You can easily get 10k in 30 min if you chain them with like 5 min each. Do the treasure rooms and kill everything along the way.

We haven't even had a seasonal theme since S3 lmao. Every season since season 3 has been "we didn't want to do an actual season theme cause we made too many changes to base stuff".

Nah, I dislike seasonal mechanics. It's either they waste too much dev time on something that will only be available for 3 months or actually add a long lasting mechanic like blood maidens/hordes which were a great addition to the game. I prefer the latter.

They don't have to be tied to player power, i think it would be nice once in a while but i think most seasons should be base player power.
I just want actual seasonal themes and questlines and shit, literally anything other than ANOTHER "reputation faction" that is just an NPC standing in a city that you get one time boxes from just for killing enemies as usual. It's not even a theme it's just a few extra whisper cache type boxes for just participating in the season.

Yeah they're total shit. Every season the final tier cache gives you like 2-3 uniques but requires so much rep that by the time you hit it your character is guaranteed to be geared past basic uniques. They're only good for some extra boss mats but who cares.

Give us more shit like bloodtides. That was a theme, it was a new mechanic that was up 24/7, took over a whole zone, changed the color palette of the zone while it was up, had new mobs, good density, and a new system with the blood maiden summoning. It was so good it got carried over to the base game by being implemented into helltides.
This is what we need. More of this.

I don't even count infernal hordes because it's a single instanced room you teleport to that feels like it was ripped out of vessel of hatred to put in slightly early as an excuse cause they had no theme AGAIN. The infernal council even sounds like mephisto lmao.

My big thing about S3 was it had one of the most well told storylines that created a villain with a real personality. I know other anons mentioned it and I hope it's true; that Blizzard slowly tell more story in the next seasons. S5 did that as well when you met the cultists and confronting the Fell Council. These are the sort of things I know Blizz got it in them, but I can imagine the difficult to shuffle their resources around prioritizing all the crap they shat out in D4. Just look how shitty it is to be in the open world now and getting un-mounted by a random fallen slapping you in one hit.

D4 still needs a lot of work, bros. It's boring, the endgame is virtually non-existent and pointless, the whole thing stinks. You don't have a reliable way to get the items you want without investing time into farming boss mats, you hardly have a chance of getting the best 3+GA items. There is no Leaderboard to show how good your character has become so what is the point of grinding for better gear? Items don't have inherent value like they did in D2

This game is trash. I gave it multiple chances and they still don't get it.

D4 Bad

PoE 2 is on the horizon. I don't think Blizz will ever understand what made D2 and even D3 good ever again. They keep fucking it up over and over

It only gives you exclusive cosmetics. The completion bonus gives a bunch of ancestrals but you likely have a full kit if you completed it on T4 anyway.
I had fun doing it but I am not clamoring to repeat it every week. I think there's enough solo content in the game it's fine for groupers to have something just for them.

The game needs to be like Diablo 2 where a clearly defined goal can be achieved. Like in D2, the first order of business is to farm Countess for runes to make some early runewords, and then you go from there and eventually farm Nightmare until you can safely farm Hell. You have little tiers and the items reflect that but some items are good from difficulty to difficulty.

D4 is not like that. You get a good item and you never replace it until the next difficulty tier and then all of a sudden all those items you farmed are worthless.

D4 is just bad, bro

Item quality levels are the same thing. They have tiers of value. Eventually the lowest level items below 750il become worthless.

Also, the leveling system is very fast. All of the systems in D4 suck ass and make for a grindy waste of time. Wake me up when they finally add a goddamned Leaderboard like D3 GRs

Diablo 4 just sucks, bro. I play and I'm constantly thinking, "what am I playing this for? What do I gain from any of this?" I don't receive any satisfaction from grinding the same old dungeons over and over with no target farming except for Tormented Bosses where the drop rate for Mythics is insanely high now. The game is just a grindy misdirected mess.

What is the goal of any character? To reach max GG items essentially, but the game doesn't provide a means to find the best or near-best items. It lets you run doing the same tired dungeons over and over never really knowing if you'll get a 3+GA item or what kind you'll get at all. Very demoralizing.

This is every video game in existence. You play until you get bored or accomplish what you wanted to. There are enough goals in d4 to last someone a good 100 hours of playtime every season. In Poe, I always complete 40/40 challenges then quit. Some people like to jew the markets. Everyone has a goal in mind. It's up to you when you are satisfied.

If you are tired of the game, give it a rest. Don't get so burned out you don't want to come back to D4. I was getting tired of spirit born so I went and started a new character. It helped me a lot. I'm playing around with a sorceress focusing on the new familiar skill and it's a new gameplay loop for me and I find myself appreciating the game a bit more.

I've given up on getting anything decent on my gloves. The issue with limiting your tempering in order to make ancestral gear matter is that you really feel artificially gimped without it and it becomes upsetting.

If you are playing the game long enough to understand the importance of needing ancestral stuff you probably understand that you need the right rolls. When you don't get those rolls it feels like the game isn't respecting your time.

I'm at 228 and it feels like a slog to get the xp and glyphs higher. I'm probably being costed by some bad rolls on my masterworks but money can be hard to come by and easy to waste in this game. (I don't trade and I doubt I will.) It's a massive grind and the reward for those points is more pit pushes. But pit pushing isn't really that much fun.

Churning out dungeon after dungeon for nothing in return is bad game design. There's no target farming (except for Mythic Uniques which are a chore to get), and you have to get farming mats for every boss encounter. The game just sucks, bro.

It's a terrible experience from start to finish. And they made it worse since last season too. Spiritborn is going to be overpowered because it's new and they want to sell copies, sure, but the Spiritborn is a gay character that doesn't fit with the others. They took a plunge off a cliff going all in with "Spiritborn".

I hate this game. Pointless, too grindy, bad experience

I think I figured out the problem with D4 ultimate endgame. You never really get 'stronger' because the enemy become damage sponges. I know people here don't like POE but I will use it as a comparison. In POE you can scale your damage near infinitely to the point where you can melt everything on the screen.

In D4 that doesn't happen. You reach a plateau that you can never overcome. A couple of damage % increases from glyph leveling isn't enough to keep going. Even if you had absolutely perfect stats and masterwork crits you still wont feel much stronger. Especially if you are tying to push in the pit.

If you combine this with the fact that Ancestral drops are scarce and you can't reliably increase your aspect strength or find the greater affixes that you are looking for on the gear you need the game stonewalls you. You could farm all 3 months of a season and never get perfect stats on your character.

I tried playing one of his in S5, but the video and guide link had different stuff. Like a half-assed updated build link from S4, some para nodes from befor doing nothing, some items lacking stats. I have pretty much the exact same setup as the Quill Volley Ancestral build but without the Ancestrals. I don't know where to go from there. I can't complete Torment 4 The Pit, so I've decided to quit.

I think I need 240 maximum resource, but I don't know how to achieve that with my current setup. I have some boss mats, so should I be doing bosses to try to get a Shako or Tyrael's?

If anyone has a recommendation to keep going and playing D4 I would like that.

i think i tried the same thing you did (switch to the "ancestral version" asap but went back to the t1 starter setup but used the uniques i found until i got ancestral versions. rebounding is worth having at lower power i think, instead of moonrise on gloves

There's always been 4 options; gold, materials, equipment or torment (boss mats & infernal compasses).
You'll typically get opals of whichever realm bonus you choose. You do get a bunch of random ones from the Zakarum Remnants renown ranks though.

It needs to be both. Spiritborn needs to be nerfed and everyone else needs to be buffed.
If everyone gets buffed to spiritborn level the game becomes ultra dogshit because now everyone is one shotting every mob effortlessly with barely any gear and no progression even really exists. Playing a spiritborn right now you're done by the time you even reach T4, you're one tapping everything upgrading your gear or perfecting your stats doesn't do shit how does it help you other than pit 100+ pushing which is pointless?
But if they nerf spiritborn down to every other class then every class is now struggling to progress at all, pit 100s would be very difficult and barely anyone could level their runes.

Nerf spiritborn and buff everyone else to meet halfway.

D4 sucks because you hit walls in your progression. If you don't get something you need you get stuck at a certain difficulty tier with no real way out other than min maxing or trying to find something you need desperately to make the build work.

For Spiritborn Quill Volley I don't know what I need to advance into Torment 4. I think using Boss Mats in Torment 3 isn't worth it to get Mythics because the drop rate is lower, so I look for other things I need first. Then I can't find anything except to keep pointlessly grinding the same dungeons with almost no hope for a 2+GA Ancestral.

That's why I got stuck. I need Mythic Uniques to hit the Max Resource breakpoint of 240, but I can't find the gear I need so Kepeleke + Midnight Sun combo doesn't work as well.

Spiritborn doesn't need any mythics what are you talking about? No mythic is going to help your resource bro. 240 resource comes from rod of kekw and your paragon/glyph.
The only mythic anyone uses for spiritborn is shroud but it's not needed it literally just has health and +1 to passives on it for quality of life.

There are no western build makers for D4. Everyone just steals from the Chinese build makers as best as they can copy/translate with google translate and then claim they invented the builds.

100% crit rate isn't some magical thing. The game no longer runs "damage buckets" anymore in the background. All damage bonuses are equal, so all mults should be treated the same.
A 1.3 mult is objectively better than a 1.29 mult no matter what now, and that extra 30% crit just isn't worth the sacrifice of a potentially much stronger mult.

Sapping board (3 nodes for 16, and another set of 4 nodes, 3 of which can be boosted by your glyph).
Elixir of Resourcefulness II gives 25 Vigor for 30 minutes.
Spiritual Attunement talent gives 10 max Vigor per point if you have an Ultimate skill on your bar (which you should, 30 Vigor right there), and any extra talent points from gear etc. will give you 10 more points.

I think Aspects were a bad decision. They add variety to a build I guess, but they confuse me because of the way they're set up and not fully explained by the game. They're unintuitive, and when I get a new item sometimes I forget to change the aspect, so I gimp myself for a while. Just little things about this game pester me that it's nice to go back to simpler times with Torchlight 1

You know what sucks about Diablo 4 that no one talks about? There's no weight to the combat. Barbarian is probably the only class that feels like you're actually hitting something because of the weight of attacks like HOTA, but every other attack in the game is like slicing through butter. There is no indication of crits hitting harder than standard damage or anything that tells the player that you're actually hitting monsters with your damage. PoE has crits that shake the screen and stuff. D4 has none of this.

A couple of things for you lil bro since you're my guy and all. D2R is extremely fugly and only a brain damaged zoomer would disagree. It's also just a skin, so yes it's possible to mod it, except it's illegal and they can't do it. As for looks PD2 has an entire new glider and the game runs in wide screen in multiple resolutions with loot filters and a million shading/upscaling/etc options to keep the classic soulful art style and direction, while also making it look great on modern displays. New season literally started on Friday so now's the best time to play. There's also group content like dungeons we can do as a thread. We can also rush and help each other.

That sounds okay. PoD also had little improved graphics but (when i played it longer ago) no widescreen or much higher resolutions. It had lootfilters too and some decent extra stuff.

From having to do Helltides to be efficient to level, to no weight to the combat, to bad items dropping en masse with no end in sight to the pointless grind.

I just play D4 and see the pointless grind. You just sit there and do the same tired dungeon layouts over and over hoping for a 2+GA Ancestral or something really good, but it's a crapshoot as to whether or not you're going to get something because the game doesn't really have a target-farmable drop table. And it takes forever to farm Boss Mats or gold to farm more Bosses for more chances at good items. So you have to keep brainlessly farming boring content for hours on end just to have more attempts at getting good items. What a horrible experience

And then at the end it didn't matter because the Season resets

No way, bros. This type of grinding isn't fun. It's busywork with almost no chance to get what you want. To farm Boss mats you have to do the same content over and over just to have good attempts at Bosses. D2 wasn't like this. No other game is like this.

They should make it to where if you can kill the Boss, then you can farm it for the drops you need even if they have to lower the drop rate.

A lot of Uniques from the start of the game are just weak and solve issues for that era of the game
Who the fuck would use Tassets of the Dawning Sky when fucking Yens Blessing and Rakanoths Wake exist?

This goes even further with class specific Uniques like Tempest/Vasilys helms and Fury/Glee armors on Druid.
What those items do a simple passive node or unique class mechanic can do, freeing up the class to be easier to build out like Spiritborn

My favorite thing to do is just run around T3 and wait for the inevitable level 76-100 rogue and wreck them. I will frequently be playing BG3 or Starfield and my wife will yell at me that someone 76+ is giving her a hard time so I boot up my level 74 Poison rogue and go wreck whoever it is.
