But for other readers: TI of 2024 can only be compared to TI of 2021, since the absolute core of the playerbase is in Europe and hence a TI hosted in Europe will naturally have far larger viewership. Regional player breakdown is here:

isn't that like every char in the game though? Who legit farms primarily with abilities anyway. QoP is my (statisticly) best hero and she guzzles mana more than cum. And invoker feels like he has absolutely no waveclear (spells) until hyper late in the game so you just play him as a rightclicker.

once you get mana boots and kaya on Leshrac, you can pretty much farm with nothing but your abilities
you have to spam clarities though until you get one more item that gives mana like a Euls or Bloodstone

I'm literally informing Dota players about the dangers of Deadlock's existence.

By the way: it's quite one ironic that a guy called "Uncle Dane" who leaked Deadlock ahead of time and presented it in a negative way could end up being an indirect savior of Dota. He's from the TF2 community, which faced Valve's destructively mercurial nature a long time ago. Whether it was due to his actions or not (probably the former), Valve has actually taken major steps aimed at developing TF2.

I never played TF2, but everyone in its community said the game's official servers were unplayable due to bots for many many years. Around July Valve has taken a host of actions aimed at removing them. The only thing I know for real is that Valve hardly cares about dota anymore and its full focused on Deadlock because they need a new cashcow.
It wouldn't mind if the game was left in an actual playable state instead of the sad pathetic state it currently is.
don't care about hats or events, just give me actual performance, working replays, a way to properly watch games from the client, and some half decent balance without stupid bloat gimmicks like facets.
you know, stuff that actually fucking matters for anyone playing.
An updated feature to bring new players would be okay too, because the game is fucking dead

there are some things that can only be dispelled with basic dispels, some things that can only be dispelled with strong dispels, and iirc some things can't be dispelled at all
best advice i can give is just look at the wiki and mess around in demo mode and read all the descriptions, they say on abilities whether things can be dispelled or not by basic or strong dispels

Dispel is one of the most complicated mechanics in the game due to exceptions. However what is easy to learn is that Oracle's dispel is a standard one (not strong) and hence can't remove stuns. There are only a handful of strong dispels in the game.

For the complicated part, here's an example: nothing in the game can remove heaven's halberd disarm, but all dispels can remove orchid silence (even though they are both item based debuffs).

Since it's Oracle we're talking about here, it's also worth mentioning that his ult also dispels and is actually a strong one. So Oracle can save someone from a roar as well.

you've got Naga Siren which is an illusion split push hero
you've got Spectre which is a late game ganking sort of hero
i don't think you really have anything that is a strong laner or mid game hero. like Spectre is kind of a weak laner and she doesn't exactly dominate the mid game, she kind of just ults in and steals kills then goes back to farming. Antimage just kinda focuses on getting a couple items and then dominating the late game
some strong laner carries that dominate the mid game would be like Shadow Fiend, Chaos Knight, Razor, Clinkz

especially now is important to have something like that to be good with because i think the meta right now is winning lane, then brooling with the team, but desu i think that doesn't matter if youre below Immortal rank or around there

This is extremely reliant on game sense. But it general, if you see that your team went for a "wacky" pick (no durable hero on the offlane, questionable mid, non support focused supports, etc) it may be better to pick an earlier carry, since you simply might not make it to late game with an unorthodox team.

if you got last pick and you think your teammates will be really active in the mid game and ganking a lot, i'd say it probably is a good Spectre game, basically any game where it looks like you'd be able to just ult in and finish off some kills
I'm not sure about Naga desu, idk that hero too well, i just know she can leave lane early if she wants and she can split push pretty well
imo, if you can't get last pick, then you should pick an early/mid game hero that wins lane. i think in general, it's never a bad choice to pick an early/mid game lane dominator

Of course. Dota doesn't have a superiority of either melee or ranged carries, it all depends on the meta.

Since AM, Spectre and Naga are all melee, you can try to balance them out with pure range too, such as Drow, Sniper and Weaver. The first two are positioning based turrets, while the latter is an unusually agile position 1.

i think draft is really important though if you pick a squishy ranged hero like Drow or Sniper or something, like you need your other cores to be like tanky strength melee heroes a lot of the time
Medusa, Drow, and Sniper are like strong laners, but Medusa wants like a Manta, Butterfly, and one more item before she just wins the game, whereas Drow mainly just wants like a Dragon Lance and a Yasha or something before joining fights. they all have different timings i think but usually they're strong at laning and can scale pretty decently

one day valve started a country and it was great

The system I described requires an absolutely bare minimum of effort from Valve (skins from the workshop, some rare commissions and acting like a middleman between the artists and the community), but they don't do even that.

I just built a new higher end desktop and everything runs fine except whenever I try to play dota 2. While playing or viewing a match in-game my packets lost will spike from 0% to anywhere from 3 to ~30. The entire game stutters and after about a second everything goes back to normal. This occurs fairly regularly, usually once or twice every thirty seconds. I've updated all drivers, no other video games display this kind of behavior. I'm playing on a wlan but before the new rig my laptop never had anything like this happen.
I tried upgrading from Windows 10 ltsc to 11 ltsc to no avail.
How would I even start to troubleshoot this? Wireshark? Is there some way to log my network activity in dota during the match to analyze later? Any ideas?

E-sports is an entirely unprofitable venture that is propped up by the Saudis, advertisers have left e-sports because they realised they weren't getting anything in return and they could spend a fraction of what they were on popular personalities with a large following to actually get people to buy their product, e-sports orgs when their financial situation is made public shows this(EG, Faze,etc) orgs(C9, TSM,etc) having much fewer teams than previously because they can't fund them now that advertiser money has dried up, unlike traditional sports which makes most of their money from licensing broadcasting rights is broadcast free there's no profitable economic model behind e-sports and the few remaining e-sports exist either because the publisher uses it to promote the game(League,Valorant) or because Saudi Arabia funds the prize pools like in dota(Outside TI) and CS
