I mean it kinda makes sense. Burner stage was completely useless before because you would just use burners for 10min until you have your steam engine set up. Not sure if I like it or not, but it makes sense gameplay-wise.

I'm starting to get lingebra, the equationmaxx route wasn't so bad once I sat down and actually did some exercises. Starting matrices now and I honestly prefer the equation method lol. Now mathematic analysis, that one is still out of reach.

Factorio is the only game I've bought in the last ~15 years, and I started by pirating it too, but I respect wube and the mods are just too good not to play with (and the vatnik uploader is always late) and being able to write in the discussion page is a priviledge only for those who bought the game since most mods aren't on github so I'm happy of my purchase. I've already got 500+ hours in the thing.

Let me explain this to you.

I have bought only DLC from Wube website to get that offline installer with no DRM and steam key.

After purchase I downloaded files:
Setup_FactorioSpaceAge_2.0.7.exe
Setup_FactorioSpaceAge_2.0.7-1.bin
Setup_FactorioSpaceAge_2.0.7-2.bin
Setup_FactorioSpaceAge_2.0.7-3.bin

I was thinking that I need to install base game first but after installing it then DLC, the dlc had a prompt to uninstall base game and after launching it had base game plus DLC!!!

I have repeated this again uninstalling, complete fresh clean install just by DLC Space Age and after installing I have BASE GAME + DLC by just buying DLC itself for $35

I can't explain it more clearly.

I was buying it for a friend so got curious whether it'll work and it doesn't
you get a key from humble bundle but you can't input it - a new account has a base (free) membership, which you can't upgrade without having base game, without which you can't actually get to the downloads

That's up to you. Quality drills will lessen the effect of RNG but you'll have to deal with possible backlogs of quality ores. You can put quality modules in your intermediate steps too to craft uncommon ores into rare plates, and then into epic steel, but again, you'll be dealing with extremely complex spaghetti chaos.

The devs on the other hand mostly previewed recycling chains involving end items.

Ignore >>499261839, he's wrong. If you craft with quality ingredients you will get an output of at least that quality, with a chance of upgrading based on the quality modules used.

I normally play pollution diffusion off, but I decided to play on basically default rail world (so no expansion at least) for this one to really experience it as intended.
I'll be able to have biter-free areas on three other planets, so I'm fine with normal biters on nauvis.

Here's my start (finally got my mall set up, at least with what I noticed I needed).
I have a small oil patch above, which should get me at least until I can set up rails. I'll also need to get military science in there, which I normally skip (since I play biters on very low normally).
I want to be more rail-based eventually, but I'm pretty in the dark on how things are going to be new so I'm leaving some space.

One last piece of advice from me is to get full flamethrower coverage too, or perhaps even instead, once you unlock them. Stringing some pipes along is way more convenient than a mass ammo belt, and they use extremely little fuel.

I'm going vulcanus so I can scale up my base resource production, you can't do anything without a big industrial base. Fulgora is nice for unlocking quality and the circuit making machine, but quality is not very useful until you have enough production to mass-recycle everything to really take advantage of it.

That's kinda weird, so water is now a pretty good pollution absorber. No more aggroing surprise biters on the other side of a lake.

This makes water a very interesting natural barrier - now it's not only a physical chokepoint, but also makes attacks from that side much less likely in general.

Yes, it's that (and it's unchanged in a lot of mods as well).
You still use a similar smelting setup since one smelting column's worth of iron ore -> iron plates is consumed by a steel column, just the output is less.

No. Quality assemblers only have increased crafting speed.
You want to put quality modules into the assembler, as quality modules are the only way to craft items of a higher quality than its inputs; otherwise you will always get exactly the same quality as the input.

I'll also specify something that might not be immediately obvious: Fluids do not interact with the quality system.

Fluids do not have qualities. The quality of a finished product does not care about the fluid not having the same quality. Likewise, turning a quality item into a fluid (e.g. Foundries melting ore into molten ore) will discard that quality.

Working on creating intersections with the new rails - this looks correct, right? This is the main problem to solve, as a T and curve are just lesser versions of this.

The point is the straight and curved rail pieces will have a rail signal at the end (since that has enough space for a train to stop, given it's 6 length which is what this book is being made for) and if it's coming from another intersection it the last signal will have been a chain and it will respect it accordingly.

If they're open to being taught then you can lead them to some of the more Factory-like ways of doing things. The only thing I railroaded was enforcing the sanctity of the main bus. As long as people properly split off from it and inserted back into it, they could do whatever they wanted design-wise.

Not sure how trains are supposed to work without loaders. To be useful they need to be loaded faster than the consumer consumes. If the consumer consumes at a rate of 1 blue belt then the train must be loaded and unloaded with 2+ blue belts so that it can work without interruption. The train can then supply multiple consumers. Vanilla factorio makes trains either useless or completely changes how logistics work. If they can only be loaded slowly with inserters then each consumer must have 1 or 2 dedicated trains.
Satisfactory does it better. The trains carry containers which are filled with the items and those containers are dropped off quickly. In my SE run a buffer chest was loaded/unloaded at a rate of 5 blue belts. This resulted in a similar effect.

The mod has to shuffle around some techs so that they'll actually unlock and so that you can progress. Without moving the techs around if you were to teleport straight to Fulgora you wouldn't unlock the techs after mining scrap because that first tech is locked behind others that you're supposed to have researched normally. I think all three would be impossible without the tech changes.

They had to change it, because C is now bound to weapon switching.
Because Tab is now the preferred default binding for opening the remote view (M also still works).

F and G for horizontal Flip and vertical ... Glip, have been rebound to H and V as well
Not for the mnenomics, but because you can also also flip entities in the game world by just hovering over them and pressing the key. (Just like R to rotate) It's now no longer exclusive to an entity or blueprint held in the cursor.
This means it had too much overlapping functionality with F to pick up items from the ground, so it had to be changed.

I'm trying to create a completely decentralized factory where rather than a main bus of materials or something like that, I just have individual outposts for different resources and I just use the trains to shuttle things around

I imagine that this is much more scalable than the main bus, but it's just a slower start

Decentralized factory. It's indeed more work because he's going to have to build: a box with turrets, a maintenance train station, an ammo depot, the actual station and that's for a mining outpost without any other production in it.
It's more logistics which is good gameplay. It's viable and i do my factory like in the picture instead of taking the trains to each ore patch.
The new train schedules would be practical for this since outposts would be able to call a train to it.

What's your preferred rail spacing? I guess it depends on your rail network style, maybe for rail grids you would want a smaller spacing because there's going to be more rail in the world. And if you pick a more openttd-style network with mainlines / sidelines, does it get to the point where you need two rails going each way or is it enough to just improve junction throughput?

With 4 spacing don't you end with not enough space in the middle of a junction to put a roboport and big pole? Maybe it depends on the design, but with more spacing there's more designs with room

I'm curious how he's going to rework tiered pipes, since the pipe changes invalidate the current system. Maybe have pipe tier limit the network size? I think early game pipes are going to be nerfed, since before it was sufficient to just run one main pipe network for each of your centrally-shared fluids before you can go trainbus.

I’ve played through the base game + Krastorio 2 several times. But I’ve always had biters disabled.

I'm on science 4 which is computer science and I already have one ore type that can't convert into other types while having 3 that are interchangeable. All being the same basic type of resource and they all output the same resource with different amounts of slag production mixed in and getting output boosts the more I refine it.

At least this isn't as painful as my last Seablock B&A. Pic is I think about 150 hours into my 300hr Seablock and that's all actually just the starter base.

One good thing about EI K2 SE is that you can use pipes as your main bus and just cast what you need on location so you don't need to bus any basic resources if you don't want to once you get up to the 3rd science.

The burning and steam tier was a real pain to tech up through however.

steam is pretty simple. I made a huge mall early though and ran long steam pipes. Same with IR2/3. All these mods I ended up spending more time building the mall than anything else.

I did that with my last save (with the help of LTN + station bluprints) it works very well. That was a rail world though, dunno about default settings. I personally really like the trains so I just kept adding stuff, eventually I was getting something like a rocket every 5-10 min. Not great compared to other builds I'm sure but I didn't really optimize, I just threw more resources at it until it was fast enough.
