Yeah, sometimes its a glorified tdm, or when you have 2 absolute shitters on your team you're permafucked but it makes the carrying more enjoyable. ngl it seems like it would've been a no-brainer to make a "Zombies Mosh Pit" of Infected, Hordepoint, and Mutation rather than just removing the latter two from matchmaking and putting Infected into Quick Play, but oh well.

Yes that's why I said "close to that style" rather than "in that style".
But yeah the opportunities it gives to perform well are definitely way more satisfying compared to what you can pull off in a regular match of Hardpoint/etc.
The way I look at it, it offers the "extra-high high" of clutching in a no-respawns mode, without the "extra-low low" of being put in a boring timeout for the whole 2-minute round if you got unlucky and beefed it early on.

I got gamepass and installed MWIII over the weekend and literally would sit in queue in quickplay for 20 minutes without finding a match. I haven't played COD in like a decade. wtf is happening? don't millions of people play this game? the search would expand parameters for 200ms+ in order to find lobbies and eventually found a few.

Was this your very first attempt at finding a match or did it only start happening after a few matches?
If you managed to make your opponents rage in your first few matches, they might've mass-reported you and caught you a 1-week shadowban.

Other than that what modes do you have in your quickplay filter, what region are you in, what time & timezone were you queueing at, and are you unlucky enough to have one of those routers that fucks with shit with Strict NAT or etc?

yep it was only after the first 2 matches. in my 2nd Match someone said I was "definitely a smurf" and someone else commented on it. I said I haven't played in 10 years and literwlly just got the game lol. if they reported me and that's what causes this then that is so fucking gay.

I'm in Oceania and was playing like during the afternoon and night on the weekend. busy here but also should be busy in USA timezone too. it was putting me in matches at 200 ping with Americans but still taking long time to search. and I checked lots of times that I was searching Quick Play with all game modes selected. Not sure about the NAT but I'll definitely look into that. also get BO 6 when that comes out. thanks so much for the advice, friend!

By the sounds of it that's very likely what caused it and yeah it's an incredibly stupid system.
If enough people in a match all report you, even if you didn't actually do anything wrong the game "shadow bans" you for 1-2 weeks, assumedly so they can manually review the reports.
During that time you can only be matched with other shadow-banned players, which is what leads to the fucklong queue times.
Like the other anon said you can log in on the Ban Appeal page and it'll tell you if you're under review and in what games (thankfully the shadowbans are per-game, so if you get Blops on launch in a few days you'd be fine there even if you're still waiting for the MW3 shadow to expire)

I just completed the mw3 campaign in anticipation of BO6. Already knew about what happens to soap, but the story is still just so fucking stupid. all the farah wank and that cqc fight at the end with ben shapiro taking on soap/price just makes them look so pathetic.

the constant sexual tension between soap and ghost, more in mw2, but since I finished off the the last 3 missions of mw3 campaign today, seeing ghost make a friendly jab at soap about smoking when you're following the hacker.... ghost needs to calm his horny ass down.

and what is up with soap and price always getting beat up like babies when they're together? same thing happened at the end of mw2 with shepherd, though that scene was iconic and a lot better.

classic soap was iconic and this remake version relegated him to some manlet homo puppy that just takes orders like a bitch in the background. just even looking at him pisses me off

Also, I let the credits run while taking a break and browsing here and it's been going on for damn near 20 mins

You can use 'loudness equalisation' in Windows audio settings. This compresses the audio. Combine this with your custom EQ settings.
If you want something fancier you can use EqualizerAPO which is external software.
Or you could just EQ your line out via your audio system if you are not on PC.

CoD HQ used to preinstall a bunch of the MWIII assets (guns, operators) but no longer does.
The install size for MWIII Multi went up, but the size of the "base game" HQ went down from ~45GB to barely 12GB, so it evens out.

Steam also isn't always 100% accurate with file size displays since it doesn't account for when two different "DLCs" share files.
Ex. if you installed Warzone, then some days later wanted to install MWIII, it would still display as 70GB even though the actual download & resultant size increase of your install would only be around half that.

No idea what any of them do unless they're Tracer Pack/Pro Packs like picrel. (In the case of these packs, you need the 10MB file installed to have the skins actually show up in Warzone/MWIII)

usually you won't get into a match until the map is fully loaded
now with zoomers as the main audience the match needs to start asap
so load the bare minimum, get the match started and then load the rest in the background

afaik texture streaming is primarily for guns, gun skins, & operators. Not sure if it has anything to do with map detail.
But the gist of it is that rather than downloading every max-detail model & skin as part of the initial game install, it just installs the medium-quality stuff, then the game waits to see what you're equipping and/or matching against and gradually downloads the high-res textures for that stuff in the background up to your daily download limit.
If the cache gets full it deletes stuff you haven't used/ran into for a while to make room for new stuff.

But yes iirc it only even does anything if you have at least one between Texture, Model, & Shader (for gun skins that have PBR effects like that one chinese LMG skin that's made of marble) detail turned to high/max.

Not sure what you mean its always been a separate checkbox as far as I remember. Could be wrong though I guess as I never play WZ but I did recently install it as I might get into it when BO6 integration happens (and also I stopped playing MWIII months ago but did the last two battlepasses AFK in Plunder). If I'm wrong then my bad, but I just remember it always being separate download.

The main bloat of COD (no longer called COD HQ btw) is that it forces you to download 9 trillion high res skin models. But they do a good job of separating Campaign, MP and WZ in my opinion.

I'm also not a poor-fag child so I have an NVME for OS, and NVME for gaming and HDD for storage.

I'm probably staying up Thursday (maybe a nap beforehand) but I might play campaign first. You can hook it through Steam as a non-steam game, but it's a tad convoluted to set up due to the Xbox App's weird DRM. You also won't have the Steam Overlay in-game, but it at least lets you boot the game through your steam library if you really, really want that.

Short instructions for the computer literate:
Add Command Prompt to Steam, then put:
/k "[THE FULL FILEPATH FOR BOOTSTRAPPER.EXE INSIDE OF COD'S 'Content' FOLDER]"
in the app's Launch Options in its steam Properties.
If you aren't fully computer literate and so need exact step-by-step instructions, then lmk and I'll try to write some up after I've had some sleep.

Biggest problem is the fact the games are encrypted and you (administrator of your own machine) don't have access to the exe files.
Try enabling game mode for one of the executables.

For me it's got a nice handful of recent AAA games I've otherwise been floating on, since I don't like spending the full $60-70 on a game unless it's at the very tip-top of my interests list.
And yeah the DRM is definitely annoying, I've just kind of accepted that that's the tradeoff for having the games as a sub rather than actual licenses on Steam or etc.

Steam maintenance is every Tuesday between 6 and 9pm EST. It can be anything from less than 5 minutes to about a half hour in my experience. During this time any game that relies on a Steam connection is unplayable.

That means I either would just have to deal with being randomly disconnected (which would lose me RP in ranked mode) or just not play for a big part of the night during every Tuesday.

MP5 seems kinda pointless with how the base gun list already has that MP5/Model L frankengun though.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume the M16 is full-auto, and that it and the M9 were planned before MWIII beat them to the punch with the AM Kit versions.

Relevant whether or not you've played prior CoDs on Bnet:
Steam has server downtime every Tuesday (mid-late afternoon for US timezones) that makes CoD unplayable for anywhere from a few minutes to nearly an hour.
IIRC it also has no update preloading like Bnet does.

Relevant only if you've played other CoDs on Bnet:
Like the other anon said if you have any CoD points on Bnet you'll be unable to use them on.
Also if you play Warzone and have Pro Pack cosmetics from MWII/III, then afaik you won't be able to equip them if you were to also switch your Warzone install to Steam unless you re-bought them there (I know that this is the case for switching from Bnet to Gamepass, at least).

I am actually a hardcore Steam-weenie cuck and would suck off Gabe Newell so it was very painful to refund (which has already gone through btw) but I just can't be fucked for the next 52+ Tuesdays. What we know is they are in the files in some capacity and it would make more sense to finish whats been started for post launch content than to start from scratch.

There's enough weapons listed for that to make up 6 seasons of weapons if they did a standard 3 weapons per season.
