>>499222952In PoE 2 you have access to the full list of abilities with no restrictions out the gate (Outside of level progression requirements), in PoE 1 they would hide some skills and support gems until you had progressed to the middle of the campaign in an attempt to prevent new players form fucking up their character.
They would also only show the available gems up to the quest progression you had completed from the skill vendor, so it was hard to do future planning with the in game menus available.
The abilities in PoE 2 are separated by Weapon type tabs with an easily digestible UI that you can pull up at any time, as long as you meet the level and attributes requirements and own the appropriate weapon, you can use anything you want.
You unlock the abilities by finding an "Uncut Gem" item drop/quest reward, then you just pick whatever ability you want, from whatever tab.
The Gems come with a fixed level, so a level 7 Uncut Gem will craft you a level 7 Ability of your choice.
Ability gems no longer gain experience to level up, and instead you just need to find another higher level uncut gem, and cut the ability at a higher level.
Support gems use the same system, but they have no levels anymore now and you only have to unlock them a single time and you permanently own the gem, there is a massive list so its some long term progression where you slowly unlock everything.
