>>499223484I agree that there's validity in the innovation of the new, but there's also such a vast backlog library of good stuff that you could sink thousands of hours into without even scratching the previous gen of games. Still, it's nice to check out newer games every now and then just to see how far things have come and what new technology can produce. I think that having the breadth of options emulation presents is especially noteworthy for those who are willing to step beyond one or two genres and are willing to experience the glut of gaming history in all shapes and sizes. There are a lot of experimental things that were never really tried again, for better or worse.
>RebirthI think the idea of bloat is overstated, but there is something to be said for the fact that they probably could have produced a tighter but still absolutely packed game(s) by doing a single release or a duology rather than a trilogy. I've a friend who got a PS5 specifically to play it and FFXV though, and there's still a lot to love about that game. I didn't have much interest in playing it myself, so I sat in on his sessions with it and tried my hand at the combat a few times and they really outdid themselves on the mechanical side of things.
