Thats the thing, I don't even enjoy the older games as much anymore, something about the way they've designed these modern games has been recontextualizing the genre and I'm slowly starting to just hate it in general. Capshit is trying to put together a new engine but it's probably not going well since they were supposed to introduce it years ago. RE Engine is filled with severe rendering flaws and Capcom is slipping behind. Dragon's Dogma 2 paid a heavy toll for the RE Engine and I bet MH Wilds will too.

I don't even know if I believe in a costume 4 anymore. I'm pretty sure they had costume 3 announced on the year 1 ultimate pass, so we knew it was coming, and it was coming for the new characters too. The current ultimate pass only promises a costume 3, does this mean you will need to buy costume 4 separately? Also, they will want every character to have a costume, but the year 2 characters don't even have a costume 3 yet. Capcom would fall behind when releasing the year 3 characters before even delivering a costume 4 for the year 2 characters at this pace.

The balance isn't extremely out of hand, it's just that the universal system mechanics are so strong and homogenizing that there's really no point in playing a character that's 99% similar to one that outperforms it when playing at the highest level of competition. Why play any shoto that isn't Akuma right now? There's nothing that meaningfully sets them apart from each other, your only decision is whether you want to play the one with the best buttons, walk speed, fireballs, and damage or the ones that do the same shit but somewhat worse.

When has that not been the case? I remember every shoto player in 5 switching to Luke, or Akuma before that, with only a few Ken stragglers remaining. All the grappler players switched from Gief to Abigail too, things like that. In 3rd Strike Ken is the only shoto you will see at a high level if people are seriously trying to win. SF4 is kind of a blur to me now, so maybe there? Even then I remember more high level Akumas than any other shoto.

plenty of characters have throw loops that allow them to walk up and throw which lets them be more ambiguous about it and stay safe from throw or mash. ryu, of course, doesn't really have to do anything to force an ambiguous shimmy. If Juri wants to threaten throw again she needs to forward dash, and if she does that then she needs to backdash to shimmy which opens her up to mash or reversal, and if she waits for reversal in that situation that opens her up to getting backthrown

I think it's hilarious that people cry about how it's impossible to check Juri's dash in SF6 but I can check it at least 90% of the time without much effort. Yet every single time I attempt to check her drive rush it's either counterhit or punish counter.

Nah. I’m not the smash fag, I don’t bring up Dale outta nowhere lol. I just hate juris theme/Marisa’s theme and JP, and deejays. Aki’s sucks too as well as rashits theme. Gouki sounds ok, so does bisons but his SF2 theme is still leaps better thanks to juke box. Overall the character themes are pretty lukewarm, the ambient tracks like king street and even the stage battle themes are fine. It’s not the worst soundtrack but it’s definitely got some personal stinkers for me. I know Elena’s theme will be ok or her stage at least, mai ‘s might be just a FF3/RealBout remix so we’ll see

This games biggest issue aside from throw loops is character balance. Specialization doesnt exist, everyone left and right is dropping their mains for ed and akuma. And everyone else who doesn’t play traditional shoto characters only have bison to use as another strong character. It cannot be understated how fucking bad all the newcomers are in this game and how all the different playstyles they bring dont matter. Lily doesn’t count, shes boring and im mad shes somewhat relevant

It's just a framekill so the second you reset training mode it doesn't go into the next thing immediately. you don't have to neutral jump, you can have them press a button I guess.
I like neutral jump because you don't get to see the startup of any animations like for example dashing. you have to react to the forward movement instead of the dash buffer which is harder. same with like a fireball. you don't see them do the crouch motion then fireball, you just see the neutral jump then fireball immediately.
