Posting the schedule. The next tournament (Dacha Belgrade) is going to start on 19th of October and it's going to be offline, just like PGL Wallachia. Newcomers should keep in mind most Dota esports streams have a special twitch extension which allows you to read ability, item and talent tooltips by mousing over them (a list appears if you're on the phone).

This season there are going to be 5 ESL, 3 BLAST, 3 PGL, 3-4 FISSURE, 2 ESB tournaments, Riyadh Masters and TI 2025. That's 18-19 big tournaments. NS is a win lane -> snowball hard or die. There is no comeback mechanic for him because he farms heroes not creeps. His skillset is pretty strong for ganks and getting kills on specific targets early to midgame until people buy BKBs just to buy time. Even with a bad lane you should focus on farming well until you can get some brawling and kills going without feeding. That will keep you going for a while and give you a chance to keep up until your teammates come online.

It's a huge difference because you can actually land arrows despite people trying to dodge. The autoaim+charge delay makes it easy to dodge Hoodwink's ult no matter what. I personally hate playing Hoodwink because I hate that difference. And in LoL, Mirana arrow is a 0 damage ministun ult that has a 200s cooldown because that alone makes it OP. Both games acknowledge that there's a huge difference between the two. It matters.

Worst case, when you're a farming core and you had a bad lane, your only goal is to get farm no matter what. So if you can get one kill and gtfo, do it. Don't be the sacrifice if you don't think it's worth it. Even if your team might wipe. Take all the lane creeps you can when you're losing lane, go stack camps, try ganking a different lane, etc. When it's time to fight, get the kills you think you can and then leave. Don't show up to fights if you need an item finished, and you're not going to get anything done by showing up. Shit like that. One day when you get better maybe you can push the limits better but if you don't want to fight, then don't. You'll have to find a balance between being a complete pussy and tower diving high ground but you'll get the hang of it with practice and game sense. Knowing when to farm, how to find it, and getting said farm quickly enough no matter what is a general skill every dotard needs to learn. It's also hard because a lot of people fuck it up.

NS is a STR hero anyway. If you want help with farm, just buy big STR carry items like BKB, lifesteal, or stat sticks. You'll automatically do more damage and do more camps alone.

Not that I'm criticizing, but it's worth noting that almost all Night Stalkers in pro games go blink, bkb, basher and occasionally harpoon.

Not that anon, but both sound right if you get his shard asap. Eating jungle creeps helps your farm and allows you to dip out of fights and rejoin after a snack. Blink, bkb, and basher all have strength stats, so those are basically your "stat sticks"

I do wonder how the Radiant vs Dire winrates would change if the maps switch PoV depending on team. Would be a lot of work to implement. I have no idea why Valve isn't adding the +2 attributes to the HUD. I've been waiting for this ever since they added the attribute bonus back in and it makes perfect sense.

I'm not sure I understand what you're talking about and suspect you're very new.

The attribute bonus is a special level up option which can be taken INSTEAD of abilities or talents. A niche lineup of builds has heroes fully skipping one of the abilities and putting points into attributes instead. At the moment, this doesn't show up on the HUD at all unless you mouse over the talent tree. Looking at a hero's level doesn't make that immediately obvious, it only gives a vague sense of something being wrong (a hero having less ability points than he should have, since attribute bonuses don't show up).

Ah yeah that is definitely handy, shame I don't like the PGL HUD that much. From that picture it's basically the default HUD but with the wolf/moon image at the bottom right (bottom left for non-retarded people who have their minimap on the right).

I have 6k hours in this game anon. I'm asking what the benefit is of seeing those little icons to show you've taken a certain number of stat +2's. 99% of the time stats are only taken at the same levels, since people take either abilities or talents when they're available and +2 stats is incredibly small by comparison to ability levels of talents, generally. What is the actual reason for wanting to see how many +2 stats someone has taken? What's the benefit? It's just UI bloat for useless info

Blademail has better buildup and lets you dominate the lane longer. Sometimes its better for the offlaner to keep the carry from touching lane creeps than it is to get active. And some offlaners are just bad without both blademail and blink, so building the item that gives you more damage earlier lets you get blink faster.

You don't jungle from level 1 because that leaves one of your lanes in a 2v1 situation and that's unwinnable. Some heros can manage it later but definitely not at level 1. You don't want to only jungle as a carry even when you can because lane creeps are worth a lot of gold for very little time. Show up when the creeps meet, usually every 30 second mark, quickly shove the lane out and take all the last hits, then take another jungle camp.

You use your own portals and undying is like casting only 3 buttons too.

Underlord is kino because he's easy but effective and flexible while also automatically being the team captain because be can decide global movements. Once you get higher mmr people will use your portals and you'll feel like a king. but that's also the point where underlord starts to get worse because enemies will know how to lane against you and won't accidentally counterpick themselves into you.

man it really is disgusting how bloated this game got
it was gradual, starting off small with things like talents and giving everyone a courier
then shards, increase the level cap, then neutral items, then facets, and now the map is bigger and theres two roshes
honestly i wonder what would happen if they just reset the game to 6.86 or 7.00
the appeal to trying to keep things fresh has completely dumbed down and killed the game, possibly even more than if every update was on the safe side, like adding or changing items and abilities here and there

Come to think of it, valve adds a lot of cheat client features into the game. Tower Range, Creep boxes, Mana display, Seeing enemy items at any time if they showed up on the map at least once, Stun/Hex/Etc hero overlay, TA now has rosh timer

How do you build axe? It feels like the hero does nothing without blink and blademail, and melts instantly if you don't have vanguard, and no matter which order you build those in the hero feels like he does literally nothing but harass terribly with w in lane. Antimage's mana burn passive gets cleaved with battle fury, so you're spreading the mana burn to multiple targets, and also he just farms insanely faster with battle fury because the idea with him is to blink around the map shoving lanes and farming camps as fast as possible. when you get battle fury on him, you can blink around and farm like half the entire map pretty much
I think Jug can go Battle Fury or Maelstrom because like maelstrom is more for like if you want to come online sooner and join fights, and battle fury is for like if you want to play for the late game and get a couple more items. he benefits a lot from attack speed and damage, so I think either can be good
Faceless Void benefits the most from attack speed, so you go maelstrom on him. he needs attack speed to proc his bash passive. it's also why you go Mask Of Madness on him, plus he also needs some health sustain and MoM helps with that also. also it looks cool when all the lightning procs from maelstrom in the chronosphere
PA goes battle fury because the damage from battle fury works great with her crit passive, and also the cleave effect spreads her crit damage to multiple targets. sometimes you can blink on someone and a squishy support is behind them and the cleave damage will delete the support lmao

You can rebind them though. If you look in the hotkeys section, there's an option that lets you reset the hotkeys and use different templates depending on preference.

I use qwerty for skills, zxcvbn for items, and 1-9 for control groups. I can Ctrl+# control groups at will and the game saves the groups per hero so you don't have to redo them every game.

Naturally had to calibrate mmr again upon return, learn about all the map changes and whatnot.
Turns out dota 2 is a team game so it doesn't really matter how you perform, you're gonna be depending on your team.

Couple of losses in the calibration phase and I'm at 300 MMR no less.
Playing in this bracket is straight up not fun, and I totally get why pros have to smurf.
I'm uninstalling for the foreseeable future and I'm really sad about it.

Boosters constantly disprove this and Grubby went through several phases of being stuck and then climbing right on camera.

1 no they don't they prove you can influence a game by being multiple thousands of MMR higher. For the MMR system to work you would have to be able to have equal influence to that from 20 MMR higher.

Crusader 4 is 2200-ish MMR. That's about 2k MMR above herald. If you're playing at a Crusader skill level you will get out of Herald. Probably not immediately, your winrate will be more like 65% rather than 90%+, but it'll happen decently quickly.

MMR is the most fair and balanced system there is
The only issue is that accounts are buyable and sellable which ruins the integrity of it
Oh yeah also the fact that valve will use engagement matchmaking to attempt to save shitters from loss streaks

These two things mainly muddy the integrity of MMR system and make climbing MMR take much longer unless you have a severe skill gap (boosters)
