I just finished all the cutscenes on 6/24 and holy fuck this is not what I expected at all. This game feels like it doesn't belong in the current era of videogames in the best way possible. This is something I would have played on the PS2 in 2005 and been obsessed with for months.

Baby is a joke. The shadow version of it where you fight it when you're supposed to run away ends up being more difficult (but also very exploitable).
I just beat the shit out of it with synthesis combos
>gunner synthesis that provides one time weakness to all phys types
>Swordmaster synthesis to deal high damage 4-6 times to a single enemy (guaranteed weak)
>use the bonus icons from the weak point hit to cast taunt and hit them with a crit from merchant.
>replace merchant crit with heal depending on the situation

Can anyone explain why they fucked up Hulkenberg's standing animation and only outside of dungeons?
It just gets more baffling the more I look at it. In dungeons she stands like a woman actually would on heels. Outside she stands like she has something wrong with her, even when she doesnt have her weapon on her back. Is it just so she appears as unappealing as possible?

How in the fucking hell do I beat the necromancer?

Dude wont never stop summoning them for a single moment, and if you dont take them down you are fucked, so the only way to progress is very very slowly taking his hp with aoe attacks, but NO ONE HAS FUCKING AOE attacks! the only aoe are the combined skills.

So it takes for fucking ever, it just goes on, and goes on, and goes on, so there is a point that I don't have even enough mp to keep doings hamas, even after using some mp restoring items and the very moment there are three enemies you are fucked.

What the fuck im supposed to do here, I can't rush the fight and I cant attack everyone at the same time. And there but a few offensive items that do jackshit damage.

Its really frustrating, because two mana bars and its not enough, and there is no more mp items because they don't sell them anywhere

No, it can drop normally, but very very rare. In case of boss battles though, of course you can only steal it.

Am I shit at the game or is it really hard to beat the cathedral ASAP in one day? I just got rid of the barrier around the lift and I'm running on empty. I was doing alright when there were plenty of overworld enemies but as soon as they started throwing packs of soldiers and gargoyles at me I started running out of juice.

1 day cathedral is an endurance struggle you should only do if you find that kind of challenge fun, and the boss will murder you.
They give you like 6 save rooms that you can fast travel between, and gear that does extra damage to undead if you purify it at the church, because they intend for you to do it in 2 trips.

I'm in the third major dungeon on hard and I've never had to do it. At most I'll swap MC to mage and to wipe out the sometimes huge groups of low level enemies with mage, but I honestly just do that with merchant now too. Be more MP efficient.

Use Synthesis more. That's where her knight moves shine. A bunch of them in her later classes give weaknesses to enemies. It's not as safe as dancers version but it's more damaging and you can keep chaining the move.

at first I thought merchant passive was bugged, but after leaving 3eye island and seeing the new prices you can tell, they made it with merchant grind in mind. If you complete a dungeon and then want to travel onward from where you are, you have to pass a night there before you can leave

Switching from Normal to Hard, it feels like enemies get some weird hyper-armour in the overworld and don't suffer any hitstun after the first couple opening smacks you get in, that's actually kinda cool, makes stuff like the brawler's stun passive even more valuable

Apparently Regicide just makes it so you take a lot more damage from weaknesses and get x2 drop rates. Ultimately I don't think it ever matters because on hard if you get a weakness hit you're almost 100% dead. Regicide just make you die faster.

When you leave a dungeon you can choose to setup camp, and say "I want to go somewhere else tomorrow" instead of teleporting back to town. Then you get a night slot on the runner, and the next day you pick a new route to go down.
You can do all the Brilehaven sidequests in a continuous 5 day trip, if you don't mind not having a forecast for the weather that far ahead.

Literally the only thing I will hold against the story is how The Shadow of the Colossus bit gets resolved offscreen. They probably just didn't get to make the assets for a giant monster MC ingame. Would've been best if you had to play as Strohl and there was some gimmick where you need to buy Eupha time to suck all the bad shit out while everyone is panicking. They had the perfect scenario already there for the prince fusion to be totally earned but they just didn't show it happen

I was in the same boat. Here's my tips: Have a Sniper + Gunner (or Faker) to spam the synthesis multi-hit skill. There's a bow in that very dungeon that makes it even better. Don't even bother fighting the skeleton popes, not worth it. For the boss you REALLY don't want Faker since its weak to wind. I went with a strategy of Magic Knight (Hulk) there to spam taunt so the gunners didnt get their slash weakness attacked, Cleric (MC) just there to keep everyones HP up and Sniper Heismay + Gunner Junah. Junah was just there to supply the necessary partner for the synth skill, she would never take any actions. The strategy was basically just taunt with Hulk, gunner synth skill with Heismay and either heal with MC or toss out a Tarunda if no one needed healing at that particular moment. It took a lot of MP consumables and a lot of time but it eventually did work.

The game gives each character a unique ultimate class that you cant give to other characters or inherent skills from, so you have to be in it to reap the benefits of them. Unless you enjoy gimping yourself the game there's little reason not to use them, especially the MCs. It practically throws the away the point of archetypes.

I almost agree but the point of other classes is to inherit skills. Though I disagree with "ultimate" classes being the best. I think they are in some cases but it depends on what you use them for. Junnah and Hulkenberg don't need their ultimate class for me. In junnah's case I'm just using her to debuff and give my party charge. In Hulkenbergs case, the ability to give element weaknesses are WAY WAY BETTER then her knight skills when enemies just start fucking spamming AOEs. I still have her on paladin and that's not going to change. My mc uses prince but since I'm a magic class I tend to take a lot from other wizard classes. the only thing I hate about it is that he doesn't have a magic version of his final ability which sucks. I think Heimsay was fucked though. He's the only one who has an insane combination of skills. The last three party members have it really easy though.

Heismay's broken ass icon depletion skill was the only thing I needed for aoes. I did need to sacrifice 1 royal class so I could fit in Warlord though, nothing else seemed efficient at team buffs. Prince enabling all synergy skills is fucked though, like they REALLY want you to keep him in Prince.
That ice skill from General was the only weakness enabling thing I needed for 95% of fights.
In retrospect it wouldve been better to ditch Strohl and use another magic character for more ice weakness spam but it didnt really matter, Heismay dodge build carried enough.

I despite going magic I find that with dancer's charge physical can pop off harder with skills that give physical weaknesses. The biggest problem is that they combo together. So you can have hulk give someone pierce weakness and basilio can give strike weakness and the prince can just attack with almighty with dancer's charge spam after a strength buff and just break the game.

Yeah you can do the same with hulk and basilio and basilio is the best boy so it seems like a waste. You must have been grinding for a while because Eupha was the same level as my MC and summoning skills are extremely op. I'm having issues slotting her for bosses though because of my current just give weaknesses strat and chain them but she's still good for mobs. I will say the biggest issue I have with the game is that it doesn't give you enough Aexp to spread around inherited skills and that sucks so fucking much. They should have scaled it depending on a character's archetype rather than the MC's level.

nta but playing persona for the romance is like playing counter strike for the skins. It's all superficial and adds nothing to what makes the game fun. It was a cute little bonus at the end of a SLink but that's it.
The combat is better, persona was just hit weakness>all out attack unless it was a boss.
The story is about equal with persona but I don't like the school setting, so it's better to me.

Metaphor's combat feels like you're walking on egg shells. It's either stun the enemies or you're fucked, and even then you better hope that you can kill them in one swoop before the stun wears off. It's fucking shit, and early game your ability to target multiple enemies is limited so its that much harder. Persona definitely has the better combat system

Ailment rate in this game is super shitty and not worth building around until you have later ailment boosters and things that can take advantage of it. Incidentally it seems like most stuff can get ailed, it just has very high resistance.

I only just started playing the demo, is it possible to beat the dragon on hard? I got all the best gear I could from the vendor, full stack of ice chunks, debuff his defense, but I just can't do enough damage to it before it kills me, its damage is too high to outheal unless I have 2 characters doing nothing but spamming healing items, and even then I will sometimes just randomly lose a character if it hits the same guy twice.

Someone found a way to enable the full game on the demo
However the game softlocks at different points and you'll need to hexedit some file to bypass certain areas
As no one has gone far with the method you'll never know when the game softlocks

The MC gets a lot of benefit from going earlier due to Seeker learning stuff like healing and tarukaja
You can get away with neglecting END, Armor matters more than anything and the damage difference between a high and low END character isn't that huge.

the optional dungeons and fights from companion/supporter quests are usually boosted massively compared to main dungeons and quest dungeons, there are optimal solutions to that fight though, once you find the solution to the puzzle by selecting the proper build and party comp it usually flows much more nicely

What you're SUPPOSED to do, speedreader, is do that dungeon AFTER the main story dungeon. That way you'd be around level 15-16 and it'd be a lot more reasonable. In general if you pay attention to the number of difficulty diamonds you can tell in what order the game wants you to do things in any given chapter.

Comparable in early-game. In mid-game Phys scales better. Past that Magic MC gets access to comparable stuff but Phys also works better against stuff with no weaknesses. Overall I'd give it to Phys but I'd have to play with Magic to be sure.

Attack Lore is a free buff at the start of battle, nice but no big deal. Heat Up is either 10% more Physical damage or 10% more ATK which probably translates to similar amounts of damage.

I had Heismay has the general so he could go first turn and Vigor buff everyone. I just hate how much AGI he has when none of the damage skills scale off it and since you can't manually allocate stat points for party members its seems like he is worthless if you want to do damage.

if you steal items and escape you'll have the item you stole and you can go into the same battle and steal the item again

what level are you supposed to fight the minotaur side quest boss at
i got throught the dungeon, am level 12, and most enemies are now overworld oneshots
but the boss itself still oneshots my party
