This is my theory as well for why so many people shamelessly rate Dhalsim, Honda, and Lily lower than Manon.

I remember in the last years of 5, everyone was complaining that Luke was everywhere...but everyone was also seemingly aware that Dhalsim hard countered...and not just that, but that Dhalsim was also OP...so where were all the Dhalsims to counter Luke?

The reality is that nobody likes these characters, they either play weird, are ugly, or play incredibly boring.

I call bullshit that anybody seriously fucking thinks Dhalsim and Honda, or fuck, even Marisa are that bad. They're just unappealing characters, with more appealing alternatives.

The only difference between them and Gief, is that Gief has dedicated legacy players, and FCHAMP is banned from playing the game in any big venue.

I saw this same narrative about Zangief last season.

Infact I feel like I remember the exact words from Snake Eyez' mouth that he's the only one that can play Zangief at a high level consistently (then he mention "oh yeah Itazan" when some chatter mentioned it, but you could tell he didn't think Itazan was on his level) and then...would you look at that. Mena picks him up and dominates. And Itazan wins a major tourney.

Playing Dhalsim is a fundies dead-end. Imagine Dhalsim spends a year or two being top tier, you dedicate that time to learning how to fraud people out with that gimmicky ass character, then he gets nerfed into regularity again and his one-sided matchups become actually hard to navigate like they should be, and you just wasted years learning how to mash fullscreen limbs and teleporting away instead of honing your spacing, confirms, offense, fireballs, etcetera. You played "top tier" Dhalsim and gimped yourself out of getting actually better for a whole season, and now your peers that kept playing regular ass shotos/rushdown characters are legit just better than you at actual Street Fighter. Do you really think it has no influence? Top players will pick the strongest character that appeals to them. If Gief was stronger than Luke but both were still really good then guess which character most of them are going to play? It's not like it's even that uncommon in FGs to have some top-tier everybody hates and complains about but nobody plays besides like two dudes because they're ugly as fuck and/or boring as shit to play. The character has to be really bullshit to make up for that. Pros aren't all robots that only see functions.

It wont. I grinded sf4 back in the day and I was still losing to niggas who brought their girlfriends to local. The feeling of losing to someone while his wife is watching and cheering made me realize that you can't jut work harder and win in life. The winners are already decided ahead of time by forces beyond our understanding. Getting good at a game won't change a damn thing, so you need to focus on other aspects of your life and make the game just a fun side thing. That's not even bringing up how random and wacky modern games are. I stopped playing during SFV but if I had just barely gotten good in SFV and then 6 came out and erased all my progress, I'd be even worse off.

F-Zero is the perfect candidate to become "Nintendo's GTA"
Open world bounty hunting where you race and then capture bounties and take part in street races to buy upgrades and customize your car so you can then compete in a grand prix and rank up. Thematically it fits perfectly, and you could easily include online races and shit as well as modes with stock cars for a classic F-Zero experience. I really hate that this becomes more true with time. It feels like Pokemon B&W2 flopping had some sorta weird impact on the company as a whole. It happened during the Wii era where they were courting casuals, and seemed to prove that not only was making games for a more "core" audience not worth the effort, it actively made the games sell less.
I used to have a lot of faith that Nintendo would keep improving on the previous games, but it feels like they go out of their way to just match the quality of older games but never surpass it so they don't set the bar any higher for themselves and can just keep doing more of the same.
Mario Kart DS is still the peak of that franchise and its one of their biggest sellers, why the fuck aren't new ones coming out with like twice as many grand prix options and even more single player shit than the old ones?
Losing Sega as a competitor and having Sony and Xbox fighting over who can be king of the multiplats really has Nintendo slacking hard.

Literally every single character in this game plays by running away, deliberately cornering themselves and then forcing sideswitch 50/50s with button xx DR or character exclusive gimmicks. How has Capcom not realized how fucking AWFUL neutral is in this game? Within a week of playtesting Drive Rush, anyone who knows anything about fighting games would realize that a tool like that ruins the flow of the match.

I can't decide who's the best shoto in the game between Akuma and Ken.
I think Ken has less negative sides than Akuma, has Jinrai kicks which is one of the most braindead specials in the game, can meterless sideswitch and has slightly better corner carry with heavy Tatsu, but on the other hand Akuma deals slightly more damage, has a better fireball and slightly easier safejump setups with lk tatsu into sweep.

you can probably just walk forward and get a punish counter with a big poke if she does backdash stock on round start. Her having stocks also doesn't mean that she wins neutral 100% free any more than any other character with a slow fireball. You can use your own fireballs that go over her's, a high profile move like gief knee to surprise her, and it has a ton of recovery for a fireball so she's pretty likely to get hit and explode if you predict and jump it without crazy tight timing

In terms of quality of newcomers between the last 3 games I'd rank them like this:
SFV > SF6 > SFIV
It's a weird anyway because while I rank SFV for overall best newcomers it has some that are SFIV tier like Abigail while SFIV has some newcomers that are among the best like Juri in their puddle of vomit.

The people I play against in Diamond 5 remind me of bronze players from other games. They are horrible at the game. Bad combos, never teching or shimmying, impossible to condition etc

dp instead of fb is one of the easiest inputs to fuck up, especially because of the generous input reader. you've gotta be really intentional about returning to neutral for a good amount of frames or you'll get the 'forward>qcf' dp input.
missing cancels like that means you're probably inputting the special too early, which is something I struggled with a lot, especially when I was playing chun li since you gotta do lots and lots of special inputs in the middle of combos for her stance. Also pressing the button before the last input of your quarter circles has been inputted (or on the same frame) is a really common fuck up. if you look at your input list, and see (arrow down) (arrow downfoward) (arrow forward and the input) then a lot of times you're pressing the input button too early.
when you say 'only online' do you mean 'only when you're playing ranked and not in training'? because its very easy to be very consistent in training and then smudge inputs in real games no matter how calm you feel.
I actually find myself dropping inputs way more in local tournaments because I'm not used to different monitors. especially on ps5 this game feels like you're trudging thru mud if you're used to playing on pc.
