you're a fucking retard, every game has free grinding. The MP recovery is a skill/accessory you can pick over other (possibly better) skills/accessories. in early game sure its the obvious best skill/accessory but speaking from someone who didnt find out the MP recovery mage skill until 15 minutes ago, i went into every boss ive fought so far with MAX mp and MAX hp because the game makes sure you can leave and come back refilled. The MP recovery passive only lets you benefit from it if you want to do the dungeon in a day and if you're willing to grind the mage archetype until you get the MP recovery passive for all your party members.

For Frontline/backline, are Archetype attacks affected by the damage penalty or is it just for basic attacks?

I mean the game pretty much begs you to buy the info from the dude. Info says absolutely do not bring a mage or healer. Another tip, when hes doing his giga charge up thing, you can just hit him with a weakness, either a spear attack or ice attack, and he wont actually do it next round.

There's far less than in past personas, being able to "do the dungeon in one day" matters a lot less in this game when you have to grind it out and there's 4 dungeons to do at a time

Just started the game, only about 10 hours in so I'm avoiding most of the thread to dodge spoilers. But can someone tell me, is this like Persona in where the most effective use of your time is to complete the main dungeons in 1 day? I was trying to get through that first dungeon with the Necromancer but my entire party has 0 MP, I have no Magla pills left and I'm standing before the door that's an obvious, "This will be s boss," signpost. I don't understand how you'd be able to get through in one day without just actively skipping most enemies, unless you can buy Magla pills somewhere.

Nah, this game is easier than even personas, especially the first real dungeon compared to persona. You get a way of infinite gold and mp on day 1, and healing items are so cheap you can buy 99 50hp healing items immediately. Its not designed very good, and thats fine, its just not the same kind of game in design.

mage archetype on MC gets you 1mp on every party member when you kill enemies in the overworld. You can farm that.

Alternatively you should of had everyone using the brawler ability that spends health, and just been chugging cheap HP consumables.

By conserving your resources and leaning on Brawler to do a lot of the heavy lifting otherwise with its HP cost skill. But yeah I still had to skip a few fights against the Captains at the end and the fucking Humans obviously.

Im mixed right now on the visual presentation. I'm at the real first dungeon after the mines and man are the animated cutscenes horrendous. The UI is absolutely carrying the visuals which is a shame because I love the character designs and would have liked seeing them with sakuga level animation.

Currently about to finish the second town and I like the game so far however I do think they should've toned down the Persona stuff. Instead of having almost the same combat and main dungeon systems they should've tried something else or gone with SMT style

I actually redid the math and I was wrong, it's even higher
using the item boosting passive and the item that heals you 100 hp I was able to see that passive stacking for archetypes gives half of the passive effect for every extra passive party members have
that means lucky find gives you a base 20% chance + an extra 10 for every party member that has it equipped member with the same archetype
but unlike other passives, where the ffect affects a single character, every istance of lucky find increases drop rate
so 4 different archetypes just having it is an 80% increase, all of them being the same archetype would bring it to 200% (50%x4)

Jesus, I've been having a serious skill issue ever since leaving Grand Trad and going to the next town. The fights against the chuch giganigga, Catherina and against the sandworm have been awful and I've been basically spamming revival meds half the time. Now I've been swallowed by the worm and I'm being stonewalled by basic blob enemies, I'm just gonna try to run through and avoid them. Does the branching path with the fish human have a worthwhile reward?

Mind you I do try hard to engage with different party comps, but maybe my archetypes are underleveled because of this and I should have unlocked one or two advanced classes by now.

This part is pissing me off so much because this is how it worked in P5 BUT THEY LITERALLY LEARNED FROM THIS and made a music toggle in later games like PQ2 and P5S that was independent from the dlc costumes. (I didn't play P3R so I don't know what the status of this was there) This is actually just straight up an actual step backwards. Were the devs struck by sudden amnesia???

So unfortunately I wouldnt bother playing the game with less than a 4060 or rx 6700. The recommended requirements are for 1080p 60 but the game looks ugly as sin if you don't crank the resolution scaling to 200%. At that scale those cards will emulate a ps5's performance in that they'll sit at 60 but drop into the 40's regularly. The redeeming factor is that the frametimes are absolutely rock solid so when the fps drops you don't actually feel it. You might get away with less if you're fine with 30fps.

How good is the healer level 20 passive? I just got Hulkenburg to level 20 healer so I can inherit it on her for Knight. her getting a free medium heal every turn seems pretty busted after getting all the attention with her knight taunt. Also the Etrian Odyssey costume set is the only good one solely for Hulk in full plate armor

I used Cielo as a full-on support character he became much better than everyone else
there's an archetype for that you can unlock soon but so far I kept him as thief just to rank up a bit (he's also very useful in the dungeon you need to clear to unlock aforementioned archetype)

I don't care about graphics as long as it's a decent anime game. Understanding japanese makes it plenty of fun anyways.
I have a 1080p setup and I could play other games on low scaled as low as 70-80% in windowed mode. I'm glad this game has resolution scaling to fiddle with. I value performance and good optimization above all else. I consider 30fp unplayable, but sounds like it's possible to get solid 60fps.

Seeker has that synthesis spell horse drawn carnage
Magic Seeker has an upgraded stronger version
In japanese the former skill is called horse attack and the latter is called horse strike to differentiate the latter as an upgrade but they're both just called the horse drawn carnage in english

The school setting is both a buff and debuff. It's a common staple for a Japanese audience but I think people in America and stuff are less positive towards it. The fantasy setting, especially a non isekai one, has mass appeal for both sides of the audience spectrum

Yes every character's job levels and unlocked inheritable skills are separate and you would need to grind them separately, or you can just give different niches to everyone.
Overworld combat is just like in dungeons i.e. you can hack and slash low level mobs and can ambush/enter squad combat with others.
Personally hard mode has been a bitch so far but I haven't gone out of my way to grind.

It's the same as most every other Atlus game. Normal is piss easy, but Metaphor has less gimmicks and status effects/weaknesses etc are not insta win. Hard will still result in a game over if enemies get the drop on you. However by level 12-15 your build will come online and you'll be able to start steam rolling enemies again.

Do the main dungeon of that "chapter" to completion on the first day and you'll have a fuck ton of spare time to complete all the side content until the next major calendar event. Try not to spend more than a day or two completing a dungeon and you should have loads of days to spare

It's still a turn based game. The """action""" part is glorified field attack from traditional jrpgs, only you need to hit the enemies multiple times. It sucked.
The turn based part is just every atlus game ever. If you played one, you've played everything. This one has nothing in common with persona's specific gimmicks. You don't switch unit mid combat, you don't have one more, you don't have baton pass.
The social part is 100% persona, but there are less of it. Think of the kiseki games but with the social feature intact.

You still get more turns when hitting weakness and you can still pass turns, but they all cost resource points instead of being able to do it indefinitely.
Customization is still the same, you just don't have to consult a calculator anymore because it's streamlined into a job system.

DLAA also gets rid of shimmer on stuff like fences and stairs and is far sharper for distant objects, try to find a way to inject it over TAA if possible, although not sure if the game supports it.

Currently its admittedly useless in the Cathedral yes, so I had Hulk use Brawler to make use of her high END. It does however start becoming useful when you eventually end up fighting boss encounters with a lot of adds where you want to taunt every turn to redirect everything. My suggestion is use Brawler for now but when you start leveling Knight you can inherit Brawler's punches so it can deal more damage while weaponizing its END boost

I saw Magic Knight has more offensive and support abilities considering it has a Row Heal and even a debuff piercing attack, might be worth it

Probably better off just flat out avoiding chests until you do
The chests do have good shit in em. Game also tends to auto save very close by so at least you don't lose the floor progress if you game over.

I'm playing it the same way as Persona so it feels about the same so far. Just done with 3rd city and there's a lot of days to spend after you're done with all the main dungeons. You get to run around the map on the landship to minor dungeons/side quests and that takes time based on how far away though so that's something.

i just finished the 2nd city dungeon and i feared strohl and hulkenberg were just gonna be on their default archetypes the whole game but it seems like you want hulkenberg to go mage/wizard too, commander seems great for strohl along with the brawler lineage. i still dont know what to do with heismay though, i have him on gunner but it kind of seems like shit

Does the Japanese class name text reflect the chirps characters say when they switch archetypes? It's weird that the Japanese version uses western RPG classes (fighter and monk) but the English version uses the common JRPG alternatives (warrior and brawler)

I ended the demo at like level 16 but those people who grinded so much harder have got to be sailing even more smoothly than I. I don't think any major dungeons has had anything not be blue, with generally 1 mob being red and like 10 levels higher than the blue enemies.

I went left dungeon, then to the forest on the right, then the path uptop which goes to the tower. I miss one runner doing this route but I don't think some of these other runners will be anything special. Maybe some equipment to steal.

I wonder if Tier 2 Merchant is going to be worth it when Merchant already feels crazy. The gold toss costing 5x as much when it definitely isn't going to deal 5x damage seems kinda questionable. My point is that it varies. They can, at any point whilst being stunned, snap out of that stun and attack me. I'm not talking about seeing their attack animation and it catching me off guard, I'm talking about them being wailed on by my entire party, deciding they no longer recieve "knockback" per hit, gain super armor, and attack me simultaneously as I attack them. There is no "learn when" when the occurrence is a completely random event.

Could care less about the stuns, trying to conserve MP. Them being hit to 50% HP at the start of battle does a great job at that, and if I can have that outcome every time why shouldn't I?
