Luckchads how we doing? I feel like Gunner is the top luckchad class (besides Merchant, obviously), landing those status effects is pretty damn handy. Merchant is kinda hilarious if you're overleveled for a dungeon, just turns all those popcorn monsters into ~350 gold each. Really adds up.

As is the case with all their games you won't be able to restore mp easily in the beginning
If you want to fuck around in dungeons you will want to buy 99 of the cheapest healing item and unlock the class that uses hp for skills instead of mp right away

No the models are better than P5, as good as P3R. But it's the filters and effects that kinda make it uncomfortable to the eye sometimes, i know it's intentional though.
But yeah the performance is dogshit, no reason for this when P3R runs like butter, if you ignore the FPS-tanking reflection setting that is.

This is my first SMT game and I was curious, is there a way to regenerate MP in dungeons without consumables?

I went in the first dungeon on the first available day with the idea of knocking it out early so I would have the rest of the time to build my king ranking or whatever it's called. Do you really have to leave and basically waste a day to get it your MP back?

My biggest surprise character so far is Neuras. I didn't expect him to be so fun to hang out with. Also I feel like Catharina was absolutely a party member at some point during development, she's WAY more involved with the overall plot than any of the other non-party NPCs.

Humakind ruled the world in the past. Elda are their descendants. Elda, just like humans in the past, can use true magic(archetypes and shit). Elda who get corrupted by evil magic and lose control turn into "Humans", the monsters we fight.

The Prince is an Elda. The Prince and the protagonist are the same person. The protagonist is essentially an avatar manufactured by the Prince's magic and will so that the Prince doesn't succumb to the curse. They fuse later on and their memories merge.

Did I find a bug or are the words for Merchant and Healer in Japanese so close that I can't tell the difference? In the jap dub, when switching to or summoning the archetype in battle for both Healer and Merchant, characters say "Healer". I don't know if its a case of different names like them saying "Monk" instead of "Brawler", but I swear its the same exact voice line saying "Healer" for both the Healer and Merchant class. This is true for MC, Strohl, and Hulk.

That was my initial strategy but I didn't have enough MP for a war of attrition.
I used the MC to buff Strohl (Warrior) and heal Hulkenberg (Brawler). I ignored the zombies and attacked the necromancer. I used the brawler to tank with the agrro skill because he can resist the blunt attacks of the zombies and doesn't have a weakness to thunder.

Bro, is this game just hard as balls? Or maybe "hard" isn't the right word but I am playing on hard mode and I am in the first dungeon and if the enemy gets a first hit on me, it is basically over. They just get like 5-6 actions and kill my entire group. Meanwhile, if I go first then I can generally kill most of them and leave them with like 1 stunned dude. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. It feels like it is absolutely kill or be killed.

No I got that, my response wasn't clear either. I went and put in my headphones and turned down sound effects and music. It is a different line but incredibly similar. It's hard to tell apart because all party members use the same inflection for both. For healer they say "Heala" and for merchant they say "Theela" or something like that. Like an incredibly subtle "t" and the "L" in "Theela" is almost rolled like an "r". It's really weird. Probably like you said, some sort of play on words or a word far different than Merchant in Japanese.

One is in the room where those 6 goblin are walking in a line, right before the room with the cat. The other I can't remember, but I think it was in the big room with a lot of goblins.

Whenever you level up, you'll get two stat increases. One is picked for you while the other is your choice.

I feel like it has to be bugged or something, the skill does say it's supposed to have a CHANCE of giving you money. There's no way the amounts you get from tearing through a dungeon with Merchant are intentional, even if you don't go out of your way to grind a red crystal or something.

If you haven't done the goblin dungeon or the desert bounty yet, get them done asap. After that, do follower rank up events whenever they're available. When they aren't, focus on raising Tolerance and Imagination to 2 for some upcoming events. From what I can tell you have various classes you can unlock and equip, feels pretty fluid since you can change them whenever you want. Each archetype has its own skill/unlocks but you can eventually unlock inheritance skill slots which let you just pick an unlocked skill from another unlocked archetype.

I do, though, that's why I play on hard. It feels good to scrape through bosses while I build towards snapping an RPG in half. I just don't think that missing out on a lot of XP and having to make it up for later by grinding as a result makes for a very satisfying experience.

I've already finished modern SMTs (3 onwards) on their hardest difficulties and I can explain exactly why this isn't applicable. In those, protagonist death is typically game over, so he can't lose out on XP, and demons losing out on XP is far less important since forward fusing is going to have them being higher levels than the protag anyway.

Genuine question, is anyone else having trouble with motion sickness playing the game? The constant camera sway during cutscenes, the fucking retarded speed lines when dashing, the obsession with clocks and spinning things in every single aspect of the UI, it's a mess.
I've been playing games of all genres for over 20 years and this is the first time this has happened to me so at this point I'm more inclined to believe that it's not on me but actually on the game itself.

Atlus has gone completely over the board on their obsession with "wacky" UIs that they have completely lost the plot to the point where their artistic and UI design choices are a detriment to player enjoyment.

I did it in 4. I started tryharding it with mage but it got tedious farming the crystal mobs. After the third floor I just ran through with mc on healer for more's quest and didn't care about min/maxing the dungeon. Hit rank 10 right after the boss fight.
Definitely doable in 1 but I can't see how that would be fun.
I'm enjoying how boss fights so far aren't really crazy, they're just kind of technical challenges. Couldn't imagine doing it without the dragon sword though.

yeah but the point is when youre in the late game where everyone is using a 3rd tier archetype youre gonna have to have some useless fuck in your party to grind them up from say a knight to a paladin. keep in mind killing mobs weaker than you in the overworld has diminishing returns and hardly gives any a-exp.

mp recovery shouldnt be a thing at all. Using HP as a resource for abilities shouldnt be a thing at all. The game is too fucking easy. Grinding shouldnt be free either, you should need to risk or spend something to grind.

Beat the second city boss and holy shit i wonder if there was any special strategy for it.
I was so mana starved and had to use all my good mp regen and finished the fight by spamming those 200 fire damage cause i had no mana for anything.

Yeah, and similarly classes that are in the Warrior tree like Samurai and Swordmaster. I do wonder how those passives work if you put them on other Archetypes though, my assumption is if you put Heat Up on a Brawler it will raise in power if there's another Brawler.

I think its a DPS check more than anything.
First attempt I got bodies, second I actually switched off to second tier archtypes and almost smoked it before the heal kicked in.

I like the hard difficulty but the exp drain seems a bit absurd. Now on tomb and mimic hint is a joke, sure throw money at it, but it still gets 1-2/3 turns off, and his damn aoe doing 50% of the teams health. Sure I can grind with merchant and stock up tons of healing items but the MP issue is the next problem. Then you also go back and grind on mage, hence repeat, just cause you're underlvl'd
