I've never played a fighting game that just made me groan and feel like I got scammed by stupid shit rather than getting outplayed as often as this game does. Feels like losing to a Blue Shell or Lightning Bolt in fuckin Mario Kart.

Nobody is doing di on reaction to roundhouse or whatever button you were using. If he was good he adapted to you and punished or if he was bad he just panic threw out a di and either way it's very bait-able and risky for him to do if you're ready.
For perfect parry there's a lot of moves with long startup that can be punished with wake up parry on reaction that shouldn't be done if he has a lot of drive meter. It's the same as playing around invincible dps simce they both lose to shimmy for the most part.

The game has the Strive effect where its brought in a tonne of new players who only play that game and dont move much other than to play that fighting game and the devs will call it a success because of that. There's situations where you'd want to use di which means you can either make them not want to use the move or you can bait it and punish it.
You can punish di with di, neutral jump, perfect parry (no wall splat with normal parry), backing up and whiff punishing, reaction super, 3 quick moves to break the armor, or if they're close you can throw the startup.

Playing SF6 is frustrating but watching it is really funny because of how chaotic and volatile everything is. For example the EWC champion losing to 7 throw loops or Marine beating Problem X who is an Evo champion but then losing to a nobody Bison who uses modern controls. SF6 is an interesting game.

Yeah throw is the main one. You generally want to apply pressure if they are hitting a button or trying to jump away or something. If they're just blocking then you want to throw, overhead, di or just reset them. If you just do jab > walk up > jab you can loop your pressure forever and force them to do something.

SF6 is too volatile to be consistent so the best players in the world can win a huge tournament then scrub out 0-2 in the next one just like Punk, Angrybird, and Mena did at EWC. This kind of thing is extremely rare in basically every fighting games except SF6.

The thing that jivers need to realize is that SF6 follows the exact same design deficencies, it is not the outlier they think it is.
To me the drastic change from SFIV to SFV feels very noticeable. SF6 goes further to the direction started with SFV.

The point of doing something like the jab thing is to put the opponent in a position where they absolutely need to do something other than block. If you do it like once or twice then you might catch them pressing c.mk or something when you do a quick jab > jab. Anytime you can make them do anything but blocking you've technically opened them up, you just need to also know how to capitalize on it.
I think mirror matches are great for this since you get to see how it feels when your character does x move at you. A lot of things that may feel unsafe to do can feel equally oppressive to defend against. It takes a lot of experimenting and game sense to figure out what you can and can't do, but I don't think there's anything in the game that's so risky you should just never try it.

you don't get to keep up pressure infinitely, period. but the reward is massively skewed in your favor in case you open up their defense.

Yeah, that's why i encourage people to take the game for what it is and not approach it the same way they approached Jive or any other less volatile fighting game.
You just gotta accept that there's no "perfect play" in this game, you can meaty jab and get PP'd or even eat a full CA for that, getting angry about it and never going for PP during a 50/50 will just be a miserable experience.

I'd probably be raging and dooming constantly if i played this game for money.

The way I see it you should just move on. Capcom has shown with latest patch that they're fine with the current state of the game. The game is selling a lot and no patch will be so meaningful to radically change the game systems.
You either accept it or playing something else, because crying on /sfg/ isn't going to help anyone.

there are timmies out there RIGHT NOW doing daigo drills and drive impact drills for hours because they think it will make them a better fighting game player. They eat 3 DIs out of ten in the simulation and they break down crying because they'll never reach master at this rate. These people need HELP, thats why I shit on SF6. Practicing combos in sf4 was therapeutic and made you a better person in real life. All sf6 does is keep people on edge and anxious to get good before the next broken dlc character comes out and gatekeeps them online.

you can't really get technical like that because SF6 is such a departure from every other fighting game. Someone who likes SF6 is gonna have to defend nonsensical things about it and redefine what competition means. And even if you prove SF6 is less competitive, they'll say that its a good thing because it allows more people to taste victory and have fun with the game.

Remember, most people enjoying sf6 are glad that they can do combos easily now. Games being hard is a FLAW to them. Fundamentally they want different things out of a fighting game than an oldhead.

That really depends. If there's an easier but less rewarding route then they're good, they encourage the player to get better to obtain greater reward. When it's the ONLY route it can be a shitty feeling, but even then if the payoff is good enough I'd rather have 1 frame links than not.

Perfect parry, like most of the shitty part of dix, vastly over rewards the player for the effort. Fucking up a perfect parry means you still get to regular parry, eating a slightly stronger throw while the other guy has to risk a scaled combo + oki + side switch for some characters for having the audacity to play aggressive on knockdown.

Timmies think that being thrown out of a parry is the same as misinputting a third strike parry and getting hit. They just see their health go down and think "I made the wrong choice". There is a huge difference int he two scenarios, as silly as third strike parrying is. You still have to somewhat time it, and if you fail, I get to continue what I was doing.
In SF6, I have to decide to throw beforehand, changing my plans and going for a read. If it was possible to miss a parry somehow in sf6, maybe make it high/low, then people would be killing themselves after the patch.

did you play sf4? something like jab jab on vega is a 1f link with itself. jab jab is perhaps the most basic sf combo that exists. as for the second question, it depends. most people, including pros and casuals, think sf4 went too far in terms of the input strictness but there are issues that crop up when the buffer is too generous + input shortcuts. personally i think sfv was a good middleground, maybe at most reduce the buffer to 3f instead of 5.

Akuma has one foward 4 from tekken7 and his demon flip chop(in 6) is literally from T7.
The two teams don’t hate one another, they all came together for a bandai Namco made Smashbros (ultimate) and enjoy their little bubble of a genre. Fighting games have always been scrubby as hell, just hop on Fightcade and see how the boomer ( And mostly third worlders ) play those good ol' fundie based games.
Games like Jive ( And Dix in a way, it can have a really slow neutral ) are the exceptions, not the rule.
