half of the playerbase can do that too, and the other 49% can do that in 2-3 days thats not impressive nor is it a baseline for skill, thats just understanding what the game wants you to do with a character and playing ranked with them so that you learn what to do quicker

I used to think people like mike ross was good, but its years of experience and confidence, these content creators and streamers are not "good" in the sense that they can beat most people. They can't, they can just look like they're good. I'm not saying they're bad people, mike ross is one of the entertaining guys in the fgc, but he's not a pro by any means, and neither is sajam or jmcrofts or any of those other guys. once you get past 1700 you'll probabaly understand. getting past 1700 is getting past the dunning kruger region for most people. unless your goonic sol. you start to be able to see how bad much of the rankedboars on youtube are. you start to see how fucking bad and clueless everyone below 1600 is. and the more you play, the more if feels like the ocean between you and actual pros grows exponentially. there really aren't many people actually good at this game. legend rank is a minimum requirement to call yourself good, but even most of the top 500 are drive rush addicted shitters who will get mopped 10-0 by an actual good player.

Daigo is probably the only person we know of that can influence the development because his opinion is so important to casuals and the game's image. Maybe there is someone else who has Capcom's ear but we don't know that. Anyway, much like SF5 I don't think it's even possible to fix the issues with the game without just making a whole new game, because the heart of the problem is the drive system. I guess the main thing that comes to mind is removing natural regeneration of drive, so now it only regenerates on hit or block (but still starts full at the start of the round).

fireballs also weren't travelling at light speed. you could walk and play very close to a fireball user in sfv and be able to react to every fireball they threw by at least blocking. insane speed ex fireballs like guile had were rare and exceptional tools. sf6 fireball speeds would be pretty intimidating in sf5. i think they're intimidating in sf6 despite the universal parry, but it just winds up not being that big of a deal with how this game plays overall since you either just skip neutral or hold down back the hold time and don't jive wiggle and a few fireballs with no knockdown are nothing compared to what you will do off of any other interaction effortlessly.

you're thinking about it in terms of needing someone to get btfo. a good fighting game has several small decisions that are low risk that slowly damage the opponent or you over time. Jumping is a high risk high reward action.

There are many answers to fireballs

after you block them, a new tree opens up

i wish this was phrased differently than "defense is too strong". what he meant was that being in a "defensive" situation where you are minus or under pressure is not a weak position to be in in terms of your chance of winning. note that all the things he complained about being strong defensive options are things that flip the situation and give you damage, corner, and oki. defense in terms of ability to keep apes out and force them to play a neutral game without degenerate high risk guesses is still completely lacking in this game.

When it comes down to it, it's still the offensive mechanics making defense not scary enough. The game is designed to give both players a chance at offense regardless of how they perform in neutral. I feel like what Daigo actually wants is for the guy that turtles by walking back and that loses neutral and gets knocked down to get punished.

Depends on who you're fighting but if they're playing defensively, the ball is in your court to open them up. Try taking space from them, do pokes to back them up to a corner if possible, be sharp with your anti airs to discourage escape attempts. If you can back them into a corner, their options become more limited. Try to do different pokes, especially if you can burn out their drive meter. You want to overload them with what they have to look out for and hit them with something they don't expect.
When it comes to mixups, if they seem like they're guessing right on your strike/throw every time, they're probably delay teching so you wanna do a shimmy and punish them for that.
If you have a decent life lead, no shame in just playing back and forcing them to make a move, especially if the timer is running close. When dealing with defensive players, patience and taking space is the key.

she also struggles dealing with throws often, do a lot of throws until she starts teching then start doing shimmies
I usually get in by just doing a forward dash into a throw or tick throws
if your character has a divekick, I found she struggles handling that compared to other characters

Being presentable is far more important than being the absolute best player. You may not want to admit it, but most normal people would much rather watch a player that isn't the best, but has a good personality/is charismatic than a "good" player that acts mentally unhinged or like a complete robot on their stream.

No one wants to watch some schizo heroin addict rant about how he went off the grid and then went insane because no one sang Happy Birthday to him in his fortress of solitude.

No one wants to sit through 3 minutes of some guy ranting about how he got wronged in the desert 20 years ago and swore eternal blood vengeance as he snaps his fingers to show off his le epic combos when they could watch a nice, funny person play the game at an above average level even if he's not the best basement dwelling combo lord in the west.

No one wants to watch some weirdo talk about his weird fetish furry oneshota porn comics to see the advanced high level techniques when they could watch a charismatic person show off the cool combos in the game he found and vote on them even if he's not the best of 3 players in America.

No one wants to watch some fat gooner freak shout about how everyone hates him as he yells over getting taunted and how he didn't get early access to a game when they could watch a regular person stream the game even if he's just trying it out and isn't the god of the northern hemisphere yet.

Get stocks, get in (oftentimes by using the fireball to take space, but it depends on the matchup), use stocks to extend pressure and smother them with strike/throw in the corner. You can always use your gargantuan heavy buttons to harass them and chip their from a safer distance, you have great pokes.

after a throw it's either dash up 5MP or dash up throw again. You can try to backdash instead to bait a throw tech but this is more committal than a lot of throw loops are.

One important thing to learn for her pressure is that when used at certain spacings her fireball gives you a massive amount of plus frames. They can jump out of this, but the more time they spend blocking you/thinking about parrying you the better.

I think you can parry drive rush for pressure after a forward throw, and either way juri kicks them a mile so you're gaining a ton of ground which is always good.

I don't really know what to say about heavies since learning how to use them well is more about learning to play the basic spacing game well. They're big buttons with high drive gauge drain and good conversions on hit that you press when you think you can get away with it, either because you've set up a frame/spacing trap, they're playing passive, you think they're going to run right into it, etc.

the bad heavy punch is the all-around killer, where ken, ryu, luke, and akuma can just throw that shit out all the time on top of everything else they have and blow you up on hit, chip you on block, and cancel if they want/have to, terry's HP might as well not exist for neutral, leaving him to rely on HK, a comparatively slow button that gets him absolutely nothing outside of punish counter and gets blown up by DI
