That weird ad monster Scott was apparently considering. I wonder what the fuck this could've been from a lore perspective - my only thoughts are that it was originally going to be that you'd get a special animatronic for the tycoon if you accepted all ads, and THAT is what would sneak into your vents in the night. I have successfully introduced several female friends to fnaf but they all gravitated towards lusting over Springtrap. Why is Springtrap the sexiest male in this franchise? I don't get it, there's a corpse inside him and women either don't care or actively find him more attractive for it. One even said recently that she hopes his dick survived the springlocking. Honestly a lot of things beat Springtrap as long as they aren't human, he's very slow and clunky to get around, any normal person could probably just walk around him (recall the fastest we see him move is pic related), but Vanessa wouldn't really have any way of taking him down herself.

Yeah, and desu I could see Sotm just being the characterization game for Henry and William if they want, considering we don't have much info about the two around this time in terms of what they were doing, and we do know they likely own the factory with all the Fredbear's posters and posters for the Fnaf 1 gang around the place. Henry especially getting anything would be great and add more depth to his character, as opposed to being 100% a good guy, kinda like in the TSE trilogy where the entire series of events is his fault even if he did what he did out of grief, and would line up well with the TSE parallels in the modern story that made a lot of people think The Mimic was some form of Charlie Bot.
Like, considering Jackie is likely a proto Ennard, I don't think these are for no reason, and Henry would be an easy way to connect a lot of the dots into a sorta whole picture, though Edwin would also be fine, if not a bit out of nowhere since he just hasn't been hinted to in the games unlike The Mimic who was in Help Wanted and AR before Steel Wool assumed it was Afton in SB.

for the first ever 3D open fnaf game, SB is decent. But it suffers from design flaws and a lack of coherent story that prevent it from being a truly great game. Vanny needed more development and screentime to be taken seriously as a threat.

They have gotten better tho since then, HW2 is an improvement. SOTM will probably be less buggy and the story will be more understandable than previous games as Scott is probably telling them more specifics now.

for an indie game studio under a time crunch, it's amazing what they achieved. but I'm not gonna act like SB is a perfect game.
I totally agree the pizzaplex and characters look fucking awesome, but like I said already my issues with the game are the gameplay and story.
They could have designed it to be more replayable like the other games but it's probably the most linear.

sure I agree, i'd go as far as to say a lot of HW1 and HW2 are scarier than most of the Scott games, but with them there can be the sense they're holding back. like in that interview Jtop outright said they deliberately made HW2 less scary, I figured it was more about wanting to offer more mini-games which weren't strictly horror focused as an alternative to those which were but it was still a little odd to hear so it's nice to know they don't intend to sideline horror

Holy shit, how has it already been 4 years since this project? I completely forgot about the ambience in this game. I just do not remember it.

A damn shame for the way the gameplay and bugs turned out in SB, because despite the human designs and some of the shaders, they really knocked it out of the park with the architecture and interior design. It really has that sort of retrofuturist American diner/mall on steroids feel to it. I could see this aesthetic in a 1990s FPS game.

Also, they should have changed the main menu theme to this along with the primary visual being the atrium.

This is gonna sound pedantic, but it encapsulates the feeling this game gives me - emptiness.
There's so much unused and blank space in this game, and it feels both disheartening and kind of atmospheric.
I could even say it sounds kind of hopeless, which works well for both Gregory and the player.
The plot is so messy and never elaborated upon, and as schizo as that sounds, whenever this tune plays i feel the urge to just reach out into the game and somehow ask anyone just what the fuck is going on, and why things are the way they are. The characters seem more aware of what's happening than we probably ever will.

The Arcade ambience is seriously cool and a favorite subtle ambient soundscape for me, really encapsulates that sort of late 20th century dreamy mood to it (but also vidya mod tracker music)
Though it also reminds me of a further mutated FNAC 2 menu theme for some reason

If we're talking SB ambience, I love the sections with music proper because there's always just an echo that makes the place feel HUGE, and coupled with the fact that you're alone with nothing but STAFF Bots and the animatronics just makes it feel so wrong. During my playthrough sometimes I'd honestly just sit there for a bit and take it all in, they crafted a very believable environment for the most part that I could see being a proper location in it's prime. It's like the opposite of old fnaf but in a good way, if you've ever been like, at school late for an afterschool recital or club it evokes that feeling of the empty hallways but much more incorrect, makes you want to leave but you can't, as a 3d artist and aspiring game dev myself I fucking adore it.

Yeah, the establishment has a larger than life feel to it among smoke and mirror environments that I don't see very often. It is something I definotely took note of since I was in the midst of designing a smaller scale labyrinth with a more ghostly feel, but still with a similar sense of expansiveness in mind. I would also not mind going to the pizzaplex as a (for the moment still young) grown man just to take in the atmosphere. The designers definitely knew their target audiences, among the CEC kids of the 2000s and the previous enjoyers of showbiz alike. I could easily see myself get lost in Fazer Blast, whilst also just relaxing on the upper floors of the Atrium, maybe hijacking the sound controls, or heading over for a bite at El Chip's.

Ngl a Help Wanted 3 that's set in the pizzaplex during its prime where you play as a member of the staff who gets dragged into the All Staff Meeting (where Vanessa kills all of them) would be a good excuse to tie up a lot of lore (Like GGY, Princess Quest, and whatever else) as well as explore the pizzaplex in its prime a bit more, if they ever want to, could mix it in with other locations around the place or FNAF AR stuff since Fazbear Entertainment was still doing that stuff around this time.

Played the demo 5 times, once every day before today and twice today. Took as many notes as possible, including some basic map layouts, and I'm working on remaking the level layouts.
Has anyone gotten footage of the first room or the Mimic room in the Manager's Office level? My friend that I went with also went to PAX 2023 and said that this demo is much further along than the HW2 demo was last year, but there was still a few things that were clearly temp and the community is rabid enough to go rotten over things like that. The Bite of 83 was such a traumatic and horrible event that the Phone Guy could hear it happening just by typing 1983 into a phone, which also ends with his own head getting chomped.

Well the thing to remember is that Remnant and Agony are in-universe explanations for possession and ghosts, both made by Scientists who never finished any proper research on it. Mainly because doing so killed them.
It's also just Scott giving the supernatural a more sci-fi explanation since he loves Sci-fi, give his own unique spin to the mechanics of the universe.

I doubt he's possessed, though the rage could come from somewhere properly set up in Sotm. Like he (or his character) or whatever didn't like getting upstaged by Fredbear and Spring Bonnie, which is why he hates Bonnie and Freddy so much in the present, as Glitchtrap, coming from The Mimic would be aware of that fact about him and dial that up to eleven. Actually makes a lot of sense why it'd be Freddy and Bonnie specifically and not any of the others, especially if you subscribe to the idea that Chica was also a Mediocre Melody before becoming part of the main cast, though I personally don't.

I doubt it, Roxy seems like a modern Fazbear Ent invention so they can get a new character in with the old ones (and also pirates aren't as marketable as they used to be, so makes sense they'd update Foxy by just replacing him and keeping the old Foxy as a kids character like in Kids Cove)

The deterioration of the series' paranormal elements (in my opinion) is a deliberate choice on Scott's part to cleanse the series' dark roots into something that's easier to be sold on merchandise. FNaF's origins starting with the death of a half dozen kids doesn't sell well to a mother buying plush toys for their child, does it?
FNaF 2 is the last game where anything really paranormal happens, and even then most of the Easter eggs are oriented around a recolor of an existing character. Large, open games like Security Breach and Ruin would've benefited massively from the rare spooky shit FNaF 1 had, and really they feel quite sterile without those elements.

But that's the thing, later there's more than one location, and again, how the fuck did he get the money for one place, let alone these military grade intricate suits. He would've been Walt Disney tier at the time.

But in the 80s? Hell even in the 90s and 00s, that's way too advanced tech for the time, , even if you handwave it by saying the ghosts made them work, they're still way too fucking advanced. It is a HUGE logistic leap and one you can easily remedy by making him a much bigger deal in universe than he is.
That's not even the only big leap the series takes. Part of why I love SB, the animatronics are AI and they also seem to have souls, or have had souls in them. It's a logical mix of the two acknowledging the ridiculous hardware and moving it into the future.

Wasn't there that 5 child shit in the first one? I remember the premise was cool as fuck but then it was all speculative lore and it didn't go anywhere so I took a break, and when SL happened I tuned out for a while.

The entire canon is a mess and Scott needs to really sit down and pen out a universe here.

The Steel Wool era actually has a lot of dark subject matter like your murders and your dead kids, it's just overlooked because they themselves have fumbled communicating the story thus far. The Sonic movie franchise is absolute kino though. Jim Carrey absolutely kills it as Robotnik, he's made for that role and plays the egomaniac roboticist so damn well. Also Sonic being an alien isn't too farfetched considering Sonic X basically already did that plotline in the 2000s. And then there's the fact that the movies are directed by someone who worked on the cinematics for the Shadow the Hedgehog game from 2005, and now Shadow is gonna be front and center in Sonic movie 3, while also having Jim Carrey play Robotnik a third time, a first for him. He's never come back three times in a row for playing a character up until now.

Tbh fnaf has always had like a "kid friendly" compared to other horror attitude, most of its non-kid friendly stuff is implied versus like, gore on screen, which makes it easily accessible to kids or teens, you never see blood in the franchise outside of minigames and Into the Pit (though the books are pretty gorey) which is how it attracts such a wide audience. SB however had pretty much none of the subtext. Like zero, there's like the idea that 9 kids were killed by Vanny but that's unimportant, All Staff Meeting where Vanessa killed all the human workers? Unimportant. SB just kinda didn't care about it's subtext and themes, so all you have in the surface level which is more bright and colorful than any other fnaf game so you get more kids attracted to it.

Issue is Afton's story is done so you'd have to fundamentally flip him on his head and do something crazy, like bring him back as a good guy (sorta) versus just Springtrap again. Well tha doesn't necessarily mean he was referring to the mci, I always interpreted as him talking about the scraps which would make more sense.

I can see MoltenMCI landing better with fans who liked the Funtimes as sentient robots if it only happened after they split with Baby and wasn't their origin.

Like if Molten Freddy/Foxy/Ballora comes across the pieces of the MCI and takes them into the hivemind as a way to protect them from their killer. Then it's more like Glamrock Freddy hiding Gregory than the reveal that these robots were actually just the first three games' ghosts all along.
