What is Dead By Daylight?
Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer (1v4) horror game where one player takes on the role of the Killer and four players take on the role of the survivors. The survivors objective is to repair generators and escape. The killer's objective is to catch the survivors and sacrifice them.

Scout is better. Base kit old Object of Obsession except you give vision to your whole team and killer cannot see you back.

You can play it on PC very easily even with a toaster. Either emulate it or play the PC version. Emulation is probably easier since the PC port needs multiple mods to bring it up to par with the PS2 version and even then it is behind in a few areas.

Escapist is definitely more satisfying to play as the benefits are a lot more apparent. It can be difficult to gauge how much of a boon wallhacks is for your team each game.

The endgame in 2v8 can be chaotic. You'd think they'd go for any of the exits but theres a weird mentality where they try to find the open one even if the remainders are on 2 or 3 lights. Then one goes down, then it becomes an endgame snowball when everyone tries to go for the save. I just started leaving because I've seen it go south from the other side so many times.

What I've found is that specifically green addons become more common at higher prestiges, but it caps out quickly. You also find more purples, and a few more iris in earlier bloodweb levels, but its mostly the greens that seem to pop up a lot more.
I for example have the same amount of greens and yellows on my P100s, all 3 of them.

Ultra rares are harder to come by than before because the bloodweb keeps resetting and they are way morecommon on webs 45-50. The real trick is to get to P100 for the permanent L50 bloodweb, there you always get 2-3 iri nodes.

yeah that's becoming my issue with the mode now, no one goes for unhooks and what's worse is no one is on gens for it either. frequently i'm finding i'm the one single solitary person actually doing gens and i have to run to the other side of the map to unhook people. just 1v4 but dumber.

there is literally zero excuse for gens to not be pumped by at least one person for the entire duration of the map, period. there should ALWAYS be at least one person on a gen at all times.

When queing in 2v8 mode, there should be two queues. One for survivors and killers in groups, and one for solo players.
Grouped players queue as survivor or killer. Solo players just queue, not as anything.
Grouped killer players can wait for half an hour to finally get grouped against grouped survivor players (a group of 4 and 4, or of 5 and 3, or of 2 and 2 and 2 and 2, whatever), and their coordinated groups can suffer with each other.
The solo players can just be grabbed ten at a time and thrown into a lobby, with two of them being chosen to be killers, randomly selected, though they can change before readying up.
Groupfags don't matter and I am correct about this solution.

I just punched a bunch of cracks in my closet door because my mom ate the panda express honey walnut shrimp leftovers that she said she would save for me yesterday, but then she got hungry and ate them. I'd really like to clear this up a bit, people don't really get how this shit works. I'm not defending BHVR, the game IS in an awful state but the programmers aren't at fault.
The programmers would need to be wizards to get these updates out cleanly. Something important the average person doesn't understand about programming is that there is an insane night and day difference between working with code that you wrote vs. working with code written by others. With the way programming is done worldwide in most projects, everything that is written is full of esoteric solutions and work-arounds that are unique to the programmers working on a project. It is not like engineering or the medical field where everyone works by the same playbook. When someone that hasn't worked on DBD back in 2015 when it was being developed looks at the several-times-patched mess that it is today in 2024, they are facing an absolute maze of logics and scrap code. When a dev from 2015 patches the map generation, they have a keen understanding that due to whatever workarounds and logics they've came up with for map generation, you could get holes in the ground or break the exit gates, etc. but a new dev hired today has no idea whatsoever and nor do they have any clue of even the potential of the bugs appearing, and even if they become aware, figuring out WHAT creates the bug can take weeks and your only "fault" for it would be that you're not John Carmack.

The reason this is happening isn't "bad programmers", it's the fact that there is no guidebook at BHVR full of cheat-sheets and tips from past programmers and also BHVR didn't future proof the game code to begin with. There are methodologies and work ethics that can be employed to avoid such issues arising early on in development, but it makes the games take longer and therefore more expensive to develop.

For auric I would say just buy the IPs you like and have fun. Bubba is pretty good for Franklins(makes them drop their item on hit), Bbq and Chili(reveals all auras after a hook), and Knockout(far away allies cant see them after you knock them down). Otherwise just work on prestiging hillbilly and trapper at least so other killers can get their perks. By then you'll know how you wanna play and who you wanna buy

nemesis for lethal pursuer. killer is a solid 7/10 - 8/10 in terms of fun
cenobite - strong killer, good perks
artist ( dont spend money on this)
meyers - interesting killer design 7/10 when you actually play him in most games.

Ill give you some advice for progression and not wasting money as well. Always buy original killers with Iridescent Shards, buying DLC or spending Auric Cells to get original characters is horribly overpriced and not worth it, unless you don't mind wasting your money.
Aim to get P1 on all your killers first to unlock their Tier 1 perks for everyone, then go for P3. Having all perks on all characters is very comfy and worth it. Once you have P3 on someone, just stol levelling them and get P3 on someone else. I'd recommend levelling Survivors too once you have P3 on all killers, both sides can be quite fun to play.
Speaking of, the "Shrine of Secrets" is a huge waste of Iri Shards and you are WAY better off just getting the character and getting prestiges. The only exception is if the perk is from a licensed character that you have 0 interest in buying.

As for killers for perks, Artist has 2 top meta perks, Pain Res and Grim Embrace, and Clown as well, Pop amd Bamboozle. Plague has Corrupt which is real good.
I'd urge you to get characters that seem fun first though, as a brand new player, stacking slowdown will actually be detrimental because you'll get carried to high MMR and have a terrible time getting looped by 5k hour survs. So again, I'd focus on getting characters that seem fun first, then worry about perks second, but that's just me.

that's not the problem, the problem is that the cages are very easy to predict. you literally just run around edge map and you will run into people who are unhooked recently. double if you both go around the map in opposite directions, you will constantly find uncaged survivors. instead of spawning in totally predictable places and always at edge map they should be more prone to spawning near survivors all over the map

I mean, what other reason do they have to play?
If dbd was a horror game, you could argue they're in it for the scares. But I've never seen survivors get scared by a non-stealth killer.
All they care about is making the game as miserable for the killer as possible. That's all it is.
You can see it in almost every 4k post game chat. They always flame if you got a 4k, because that means they didn't make you completely miserable.
Because even in a 3k, where the survivor got hatch, they make fun of you despite you being completely out of control of the situation. Since hatch is just rng trash mechanic that should be removed from the game.
Why else play a role that is literally 4 people ganging up on the solo killer. Doing gens? Don't make me laugh.
he only thing that separates survivors and killers is the characters attitude and means of harming each other.
Never trust a survivor player. They're all soulless monsters.

2v6 was the numbers needed for this to be balanced in any sense. The only good thing about it is the premade sets means certain annoying perks aren't in play. it's only hard if people don't balance the classes.
Also big mad I didn't get anything special for prestige 3ing so many characters before they changed the system.

i'd recommend Nemesis instead, he's better in every way and even has better perks. PH hasn't really been touched in years and he's fallen out of the current playstyle, he's just not as smooth to play. when you have more game knowledge in general it's easier to contend with so consider picking him up later. he also shines with some other perks like Plaything from Pinhead.

depends on who you get. someone with good mobility like Wraith or Billy is nice. but Huntress or Nurse is 100% on how good they are with that killer, it can be very tight against good teams trying to patrol spread out gens.

he still benefits from some setup and i notice survivors are inclined to avoid places they see you trap so you can have a nice tight cluster of gens to focus on defending. generally you want someone to chase survivors into your traps, but you might have to do it yourself sometimes. i like to place traps in totally random bushes in the middle of nowhere too, not next to pallets or windows like obvious. there's so much shit going on they'll catch plenty of survivors.

i wouldn't say it's confusing or bloated but there are some unfun elements mostly in the way of toxic players and a kind of bad community. But theres a lot to unlock and experiment with in the way of killers and perks and a lot of it can be unlocked for free just by playing the game.
It's easy to learn and tough to master, so you can sink a ton of hours into it and still find things rewarding further on down the line.

all the packs feature characters you can get for free with the ingame currency. the only characters you can't buy with that currency are licensed killers like Ghostface and Chucky. it will take time to grind it out for the free characters but it's possible. but if you're too lazy to grind i'd say Maddening Darkness and Old Wounds have a good mix of solid killers and perks for each side to get you started.

Licensed characters cost real shekels, OC characters can be purchased with in game currency. The DLC packages go on sale pretty often, don't pay full price unless it's something new you really want (survivor Lara Croft is the newest DLC). They always have deals in October. As for what exactly you should buy it depends on which role you like more so experiment a bit before you decide what to spend money on.
