I was playing Digimon Survive and it was all fine but then my Agumon digivolved in a fucking Tyrannomon of all things (most BORING digivolution an aguman can have)
Was that determined by my choices somehow like in Megaman Battle Network 3 that the playstyle influenced the first style you got?

He is actually very rational if you look at his actions. What he does makes sense and is based on logic, not emotions.
Ironically, Shuuji's actions are much more emotional, rambling about them needing to wait in the school for adults to come help them when everything is pointing to there being no help coming. Yet he's more harmonious.
I am saying Survive was shoddy and poorly executed in that aspect.

I am not the biggest digifan but I quite like the licence.
I really wish digimon had more rookie stage digimons like the protagonists in the anime they are quite recognizable and have great designs.
I also wish that every digimon has one "default" "canon" line from baby to ultimate (ontop of the mess it is right now).
I'm pretty sure this could have made the series more popular if people could attach to digimons that way.
(Even if they don't make sense like gomamon to zudomon instead of plesiomon)

I really wish they had a character saving mechanic where different characters can live or die based on your choices, and the True End was achieved by saving everyone. It's really unrealistic to expect though because there's so many things to consider, scenes to change, and interactions to write that it'll be overwhelming for the writers to handle. I'd have 0 issues with Digimon World 4 if it were done right. It's simply too crude and unpolished to be enjoyable
>hellish early game (you die in like 3 hits, no HP or MP regen, first 10 skill points take forever to obtain, limited to 9 HP disks alpha, socketed equips have abysmal drop rates)
>grindy as all fuck (enjoy killing scorpions at the desert forever lol)

>magic builds when being a mage is unviable (haven't actually tried it but I can't see it working). casting spells costs inordinate amounts of MP for the damage (except for poison), sacrifices melee damage (and MP drain), and makes you squishier than fucking jello)

The difference is that Pokemon is going hard with this collab, 18 art pieces releasing with 18 commissioned songs, it's kinda impressive, I don't know how Digimon could do something like that however, maybe start with a Project Sekai (Miku's current game)? It really pissed me off because I figured the payoff for helping him would have been great.
It was at this point I still thought my actions would have greater consequences I ignored Shuuji HARD but was met with a disappointing situation outside my control.

Survive was supposed to feature multiple decisions that would affect the story. IIRC even combat was originally supposed to influence the story and viceversa. However, the game's scope was massively scaled back to push it out the gate asap after reiterated delays.

It's the same town as World 1 just set, if I recall the correct number, 400 years after.

And Anal Log being the driving force behind the story.
It being a different universe doesn't mean it's not a sequel, especially when the player character from the first game, as you pointed out as if to somehow justify ignoring(?), is not just in it, but a main character instead of an easter egg.
I'm not sure why you think they're not sequels but I'm happy to talk further about it.

I feel like the main issue was that they tried to treat Shadowside as the next step of the franchise. If it was a spin-off and the original Yo-Kai formula remained, it probably would've done better and had more room for variety without abandoning what made it popular to begin with.
In the West it was almost purely due to shitty marketing. From overly childish ads and toy production effecting things, and especially terrible localization speed.

No idea. Pendulum 20th was chaotic compared to DM 20th in evolution methods, so harder to guess. I think Imperialdramon PM, Ogudomon, Rafflessimon at least because they require either additional eggs. Mastemon should be able to reappear. Depending on how it is set up, I think either Voltobautamon will be dropped or Aegisdramon will be added using the same evo strategy of V+VI, but if you can't Jogress with one in storage that would make them a hassle. Apocalymon seems like something that could be added easily.
