Sf6's roster is literally only Sf2 and newfags + Juri, none of the actual fan favorites are in the game yet, it'll 100% grow with time even just by virtue of new characters not even counting the game improvements/new stuff that'll come over the years
Sfv grew too but the game had such a bad rep that the growth was miniscule by comparison but eos Sfv still had more consistent players than ever before (s1-s2 SFV went down as little as 700 daily peaks while s5 sfv hovered around 2k-3k)

The main issue is that SF is so hard you can't play different characters. In games like DBFZ, Strive I could fuck around and play someone else. In SF6 I tried picking up another character and it might as well have been a different game entirely. I did my placements with Honda and Cammy and got placed in bronze with both. Would take months to get them to the same level as DJ and by that point my DJ would be back to bronze skill level.

I seriously don't know why they hate this character so much. He already has to give up oki and mixups in exchange for drink levels, why have his normals be lower damage than everyone else? Why is his rekkah unsafe until you get to level 4? His sweep is relatively safe and long range but if you want the utility of drinks from it you have to hit confirm with it which is another mental stack the Jamie player has to think about compared to everyone else. Quick reminder that sf6 is just slightly more polished dnf duel. If characters activated passive buffs once they reach 30% health plus the crit level 3 then it would be basically the same exact game. They should add those passive buffs for season 2.

The only skilled players i meet in D4 which does not strike me as being carried by their characters gimmicks are Luke and Jamie players.
Luke players are more often than not very patient and play a very fundie oriented game, no one whiff punishes and anti air as well and as much as Luke players.
Jamie players are often reaction gods and the only players who consistently stuff DR, anti air and counter DIs, they're perfect parrying more than anyone else besides Marisa players for some reasons.

I would say that plat 1 and diamond 1 have extremely inflated population (because of unbalanced gains and players usually stopping at that treshold) to the point those particular ranks are meaningless.
But a diamond 3 players is just a player who has not grinded enough to get to master.
