Already did tried to reroll to FOTM a couple of times, it sucks, didn't even get title anyway for all that effort. I just want to play shaman and wear cool shaman mogs and have a functional cloudburst totem. Will probably just shoot for AoTC if there's a mount then unsub.

Bros this new player experience... Am I retarded? I've spent like an hour trying to simply start Dragonflight (having never played an expansion before) but these opening quests are hard as fuck. How does one even reach the explorers? I phase through the rocks.

It's kind of funny, I keep needing to google directions and people give step by step guides on how to navigate the opening city. Kind of soul.

Dragonflight zones are for levels 60-70 and you get free flying and a flying mount by level 30 as of a recent patch so it's not a big deal that you need to fly to get to the NPC

I boosted since it came with Dragonflight preorder, but I'm just now getting around to playing, so I missed basically all of that and/or forgot. I'll take the retardation L though.

I asked around about boosting since the preorder came with it, and got the impression boosting is not just normal in WoW but encouraged to get to endgame faster where all the real content is. Truth be told this is the first time I'm getting a hint that it would be better to start from level 1 and grind to level 60 before starting Dragonflight. I did start off with a non-boosted character and got to level 16, but was finding hte process really weird - blasting through I think Warlords of Draenor content that was now completely trivial, while not understanding any of the story (which is only relevant insofar as I was being treated as a Hero of the Horde despite being a new character).

Yeah it's a fucking mess. If you're able to play your boosted character without feeling overwhelmed by all the abilities and talents you have from the get go then power to you, leveling from 1 really just had the advantage of letting you learn your class a bit before being thrown in the deep end. Regardless of whether you level from 1-70 or 60-70 I don't think it'll make a huge difference in terms of being familiar with what endgame is like. Story wise DF still has a little bit of that treating you like a hero right away stuff but less of it than other expansions, it's mostly just that there are a bunch of major characters who will react as if they've met you before or know of your many supposed accomplishments

I play FF14 at an extremely high level and have experience with all 20+ jobs there, which helps, but in general I've never completely understood those who need handholding on how to play a job (in WoW or FF14). First you look up the proper rotation on Icy Veins, then you grind it into your skull through either raiding or by hitting a training dummy for 1-2 hours. It's a short term problem and if anything playing the class with gimped skills at a lower level feels like what would cause problems. That said, WoW may end up different than what I'm used to in this regard. FF14 has a few fights you can do with AI to get training in private, but I may need to grief "raid finder" parties in WoW for a couple hours.

tried to main it in every expansion since Legion. The aesthetic is top tier and always will be. The class design is shit though. Either bloat like UH (Arcane: melee edition) where you need buff filters to know what the fuck is happening with dumb damage profiles where everything needs to sync every 3 minutes or you lose 40k dps. Frost is similar to destro, held back because of the power of one spell (havoc/d&d oblit cleave) so it feels garbage to play because you go from giga damage to scraping above tanks.

It depends on how you build the game.
Make it always online even when players aren't playing co-op. Diablo 3 is a good example - you can play solo but first you have to log in. And nobody managed to pirate the game.
The reason why they don't release a single player Warcraft game is:
1. Such project simply didn't come to their mind
2. They thought about it, but some ee effective AAA game manager told them it won't bring enough shekels for Bobby

its a thing all MMOs I have played so far botched.
all of them tried to mitigate it but it always becomes a problem when they become too long running.
at best you can try and see how others attempted to salvage a long running leveling process but it never saved them either.
ragnarok online had this academy that explains basic shit to you. then it added a questline that sent you around places to learn how stuff works and then also put up hunt boards to kill specific mobs in the world.
FFXI is a very open MMO but at some point they added an overarching questline that binds everything together. kind of like a super cut.
that would work well for WoW I think. make people go through outlands and northrend just dont make them do everything there because its lonely and takes very long to do it throughout 7+ expansions at this point.
the game has literal ingame libraries that arent used for shit. they could be set up with lore bits that explain the world. that was partially done in vanilla WoW already talking about WC3 events in the game itself. they could tell some interns to just copy shit from WoWpedia nobody would mind.

ultimately the issue lies with the linear nature of MMO expansion releases though. you keep spreading everything thinner with every release and nearly all attempts to fix this are just cope.

Exactly. Rogue speed and stealth is super fun, especially in pvp. I enjoy my rogue there much more.

But DK sets look waaaaaay better and my friend plays dps already so me being able to tank is a plus.

Season 3 DK set is imo one of the bests in game while rogue is ugly again. Blizzard does not know how to make rogue sets

I don't understand how, it's a fucking circle but no matter how many times you ping the map and tell them to follow you, they wander off in the wrong direction and then spend the next 5 minutes either silently lost as they just take portals back and forth, or they seem to actively play keep away as you tell them to stop moving so you can come to them only for them to do the exact opposite while complaining that they don't see you.

Brewmaster in WoD for me.
I played it once when our regular brewmaster quit the game and I fell in love. I was just supposed to be filling in for a few raids until we could recruit someone, but it became my main after two weeks and I stuck with it until the prepatch for Legion, at which point I shelved the abomination it had become and have only ever touched my monk to level professions since then.

Because they'd just spent years betting everything on one silver bullet, which was to remove all the grind, which they asummed would be a panacea and millions would flood back. Blizzard finally complied with their demands in DF. For them to turn around and immediately shit on it would be churlish in the extreme, and apparently they had enough shame not to do it, even though really from trailer views and day1 sales you could see that silver bullet didn't work.

Aberrus is fine. Magmorax is really the only issue and every raid pre-WoD was trash (yes including ToT and Ulduar)

Just unlocked a dungeon. Should I do it? Is there a point? I kind of just got it seemingly at random while doing world quests. I have no idea what role dungeons play in this game. I did a random dungeon once but was bottom on the DPS meter (someone in the party kept posting the DPS meter in chat to indicate I was doing 1/20th the damage of the next lowest person -- I think it was a stat thing). My ilevel is 227 btw.

Dungeons while leveling give a bunch of XP and are braindead compared to questing where you have to pick up quest at X, move to Y, do something and go back to turn in. In dungeons you just attack and move forward and most people have done them enough times they can autopilot them.

You get a big XP bonus especially the first time you do a dungeon, where usually there's quests you can pick up at the start of the dungeon that just require you to run it, kill some bosses, maybe pick up some items along the way and you turn them in after the final boss.

Also dungeons usually give the best gear you can have at the level you do them in.

This isn't a doomer post but rather a honest observation.
I've never seen so many guilds take a break before AotC due to attendance, or so many guilds just taking "a break" so early.
Even in the worst of content lulls like Dragon Soul and Siege of Orgrimmar I could find guilds looking for more fairly easily that were still active. Now most the guilds swear they'll be back once the patch date is announced but they've all been inactive on warcraftlogs since July.

even if it was passive its terrible. even if they buffed the damage aura so much you dealt the same as titans grip with autos, going annihilator applies 7s cooldown to meat cleaver and eats 3 talent points from base tree to buff slam to useable. the point is clearly meant to be low APM white damage build which I like but it needs a couple keystone talents yet.

Single minded fury is a retarded meme talent. It has never been viable and it will continue to never be viable unless blizzard makes it passive and buffs the fuck out of it. Doing 50% more auto attack damage isn't jack shit compared to having double the stats and like 50% more raw damage.

its fucking aids. the myza's oasis fight is pure torture with the rp getting into the bar and the slow turn ins. so'leah's 2nd phase has a 99% dps reduction so you have two options. be a loser like me with no friends and bring your alt account to soak at lease 1 of the star shits on the ground if they die no biggie you can break the rest. or 2nd if you have a decently geared monk (around 430) set spec to brew and use fortifying brew during p2 then touch of death to one shot the boss. if you dont boss has a 99% dps reduction so you will literally fight him for 10+ minutes. incredibly annoying to farm i dont know whats worse that or necrotic wake. 3rd boss is pure aids as well

nya'lotha is doable at least on normal, but you need to really try to dps on some bosses so you don't die to the mechanics

Alright, I did the dungeon. Got like 1/3rd of a level of EXP. I didn't really recognize any mechanics in the dungeon bosses except the final boss which had the window blowing and such. I thought that I was in a group of vets, but 3/5 people got the achievement for doing it new, so it was probably only the tank and maybe the healer who had done it before. Strange to imagine 3 people completely blind just smashing the dungeon to bits, I thought we were skipping phases in bosses. I'm looking up a guide now just to see the mechanics. I can't say that was very enjoyable but unlike a certain other game I know this dungeon will have a mythic version to do in Mythic+ so there is promise of it one day being actual content. (Not that I wanted to die a bunch and fuck up a dungeon for a random group).
