Exploration is literally the worst way to get ANY of those. There's like 2 or 3 cyberware locations that are useful for a couple of levels if you are min maxing at every level but none of them are as good as what you can get from a vendor that is just right there, no combat or exploration required. Just a few measly eddies ( which you have no other use for anyway). Best weapons are from either sidequest or main story mission for the most part. clothing you get from crafting and for style the best way to fill out your wardrobe is by camping vendors and time skip to refresh the catalogue. So basically exploration is not the way to get the best anything.

I really try to take this seriously and try to wonder how one would genuinely think this. I guess the only way you could say something like this about NV in comparison to cp77 is by assessing how "full" a game world is by literally how many polygons and 3d geometry is on screen, which fair enough, cp77 has far, far more than NV. That seems to me like a profoundly retarded way to measure game "fullness", but there you go, I will admit that cp77 is a luscious and visually dense game world, no doubt about it.

the basic gear you get for free from missions gives you a taste of what is out there, while lining your pockets with money to go deeper in whatever direction you want. You can leave Watson with over 600,000eddies and between 30-40street cred.
because you disagree with the quality of the rewards does not mean it isnt there, or that it doesnt serve a purpose.

It's literally worthless to hunt for open world items because they are ALL worse than stuff you can just buy off a store. And about the missions, or the gigs, I have no issue with those. On the contrary, the gigs are the best part of the whole game. Those are fine. They are just not enough to carry the whole game. Gigs are fine and the gig rewards are also fine (eddies plus a unique at district completion). I'm talking about exploration.

For example: why are military grade cyberware implants just readily available out in the open from a vendor for the price of the cp equivalent of a Ford Mondeo? Take the Militech Falcon, arguably the best single piece of gear in the game. Why is that shit available on a vendor in the city center for 40k eddies or whatever ridiculously low amount it is and not, say, in the basement of the Militech HQ behind a small corpo army and military grade automated defenses? How much cooler would it be to finally get that piece of gear if you had a hell of a fucking fight or sequence to sneak in and get it? This is my issue. The whole game is so blunt and clunky.

I don't think discussing this is of any use but for what it's worth New Vegas has at least a unique encounter every 100 meters or so in any direction where you have multiple paths to solve it and often those choices will afect other encounters and options further into the game. Honestly, saying New Vegas is empty in comparison to cp77 of all games is borderline insanity and/or severe mental incapacity. I don't know what else to tell you. There's plenty of things cp77 does much, much better than New Vegas. Game design is 1000% not one of them.

It's cool, one of the more fun builds too. You can use Monowire, Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, or a melee weapon. Each have their own build, but I always prefer the unga-bunga style of Gorilla Arms.

this is a great point and example. i was hoping for more of this type of thing too. 'stuff' to break into and steal via whatever method that isn't necessarily attached to a story mission or gig or whatever.

Military gear in the real world isnt something special. Its made by private companies that want to sell to anyone with the money. If a government gets more than they need it can wind up as military surplus for civilians to buy. Or stores will purchase directly from weapons manufacturers.
so "military grade" anything will always find its way to market.
and the other stuff is picked from corpses and wind up at shady rippers, like Charles and Fingers.

But the point that person seems to be making is they want a song and dance for every shiny trinket so they feel special. While ignoring all the cyberware we pickup from gigs and ncpd missions. Watson alone as some of the best guns in the game hidden behind side missions. V earns their place in the world by grinding through night city. though considering how full of shit that person is, legendary militech hardware could be hidden in Dakota's gig against militech and they wouldnt even notice.

How can healing items be infinite if there's a perk that says it heals +30% more on the "final charge" of your equipped health item and another saying it triggers if you have "no charges remaining"?

For healing, I'd prefer for puffers to be slow-ish heal over time, but can be used a lot although the effect doesn't stack, it just resets the heal over time period. Something you need to manage & think about instead of spamming.
Maybe have a stim that can be used once for immediate, but can't be spammed.
And absolutely remove the "mantis blades heal on kill" nonsense they are adding (but I can just ignore that, so that's not a problem).

Yes I want my BiS gear to be a reward for me exploring and playing the game, not exploring and clicking a menu in a store. It's honestly baffling people defend this. I want vendors to basically sell only the base rarity versions of gear. Maybe on the higher end stores you get purple variants but I want those prices to be jacked up. I want every single legendary piece to be gated either through exploration, combat, skill checks and side content, and ESPECIALLY all the unique pieces of gear.

And before you repeat yourself again: yes they already do this very occasionally. As I'v said, the gig completion reward at the end of the district clear is a nice to have. That's how you should get these items. But those are few and far between. Same with the side mission uniques.

All the cyberware you mention from regular gigs and ncpd missions although fine, they are all most likely completely garbage compared to what you can get by that point by just buying it from the closest ripperdoc. But the whole point and the main issue is that you have these legendary powerful items, and a lot of them seem like they are almost prototypes in function and description (again, like the Falcon or the Warp dancer) and they should just not be attanable through a vendor. It makes no sense either in flavor nor in terms of gameplay. You want to have maybe one or two of these uniques attainable through a more clandestine ripperdoc or whatever, that's fine. But not most of them. It's just lame and makes the game a farm simulator for SC (money is usually not even the issue, you'll fill out your pockets to the point you'll have way more than you need way before you get to the SC requirements)

Of course, this could have been avoided by simply copying Deus Ex and having more buttons for active/toggled cyberware and abilities instead of just one.

Legendary/iconics are "free", yes, but you first need to find them and be able to get them, which would likely require you buysing the gear available in stores, which is now far more expensive than before. I never understood why a piece of tech that seems a civilizational leap ahead of us (sandevistan, for instance) is orders of magnitude cheaper than a random sports car that is basically current day tech with maybe some more advanced materials. Super powerful effects should either be really fucking expensive or really hard to get for free. Also, the answer to the Eddie problem is the same no matter what you put into sotores or not. You'd have to give an actual readon to buy all the stuff available like residences and the game would need some sort of money sink (again I'd suggest side activities of some kind, or some sort of incremental infinite progression system with a horrible money to benefit ratio or whatever).

Regardless, "having to make this arbitrary currency not useless" is a terrible reason to make your game worse and more boring.

2) you can have different ways to make ripperdocs useful. Say you can get cyberware pieces but different pieces have a differen "skill requirement" to be implanted (doc's skill requirement, not player's) and different ripperdocs have different skill levels and specialties, and you can only get them to work with you through maybe street cred checks. Or alternatively you make the operation to install different pieces cost money themselves and different pieces cost different amounts depending on their power level (in lore it would be because of procedure difficulty or whatever). Alternatively, alternatively. You unlock ripperdoc services by doing missions for them or otherwise unlock them by gameplay, and without their services you can't install higher grade cyberware.

I personally found having grenades/healing without cold down a mistake the first time around when I played I downloaded a mod that made them go on cold down since they're such a crutch. I don't like having infinite tho, I think I would like to have 10 of each max before I need to recraft them, probably a mod will fix that.

That's my point. It would look dumb. Which is why there should be a reason for you to buy and use intermediate gear. That's why you remove the top tier from vendors and put them behind gameplay challenges so that there's a use for blue and purple gear, in this case, being the best available to use until you can acquire the top tier upgrades. And you make it expensive af too, so that maybe you are forced to buy blue or even green equipment to make you r build because it'll be a while before you can afford purple equipment. Now you'd have some long term progression and longevity instead of immediately equipping iconic cyberware in every slot the minute you leave Watson and now you're in end game.

There is a point to mid tier cyberwear, and it’s that it has lower attribute requirements for them. You can’t get a lot of epic/legendary chrome without 16+ into an attribute for most of them, so you can still pick up lower quality stuff for the attributes you aren’t going all in on.

Right but the thing is that cyberware is almost by definition cyberware that is outside of your build (or you'd have heavily invested into it's stat requirement). In other words it's bonus stuff you put on because why not. What I was saying is that it's silly to max out your gear for your build almost immediately after you're out of Watson, whatever the combination of max rarities you can get for your particular build. In other words, getting a legendary/iconic piece of cyberware should be a sort of capstone that you get mid to late in your progression.

No one really knows for sure until we can play with it and see how the progression feels. Looking just at the tree and doing some theorycrafting on my go to build progression it seems like you'll get very.... specialized ( I don't want to say "powerful" necessarily) very fast, to the point gear seems like it'll take a bit of a backseat. That being said I haven't seen any of the new gear either so who knows. It's gonna be fun for at least a week though just playing around with the new toys.

In theory though, their approach to the new tree is much better (almost every perk is a game changer, very little passive number go up). In practice it makes for fewer actual perks, so we may get a situation where there are no builds because everyone does everything since they haven't removed any perk points or made any changes to leveling up afaik. We'll see.

This could also mean if you want to go for a more "real" experience, you can avoid spending perks to keep combat tense and weighty.
