I did the math, and if I have twenty settlers, which is what I consider a fairly "full" settlement, I would need at least 400 bonus happiness to reach 100%, and that's not even counting if I have any robots there. That seems like a lot, but there's still no concrete information on how much happiness stuff like the arcade cabinets, rugs, plants, and Vault 88 stuff adds, is there?

Does anyone know how I can enable shadows in 4?
All my settings are set to Ultra in the launcher. I haven't fucked with any shadow related settings in the .ini to turn them off. I don't think I have any shadow related mods either. But they're simply not there ingame.
I've tried googling for it but all the hits are from people trying to turn shadows off for more FPS, no one seems to be having the issue of them just being gone.

Institute synth infiltrators will continue to spawn after the Institute's underground facility has been destroyed. However, they won't become hostile, just like if you become an ally of the Institute. You can check which settler is a synth with a perk (I don't remember the name of the perk) that checks the actor's base resistance to damages and their HP. Synths have a higher base resistance to radiation damage.

I still have this waiting room thing at one of the entrances that one of them always seems to immediately spawn into and then sit down in.

The pig farm is going great, fixed all the model tearing issues and skinning. Starting on the capture and transformation mechanics now, having some issues getting the headparts to load when swapping races but I'm hoping to solve that soon.

Fallout: Cheyenne

Takes place in Colorado, south of Denver. There are several irl military bases in the rocky mountain range with active nuclear weapons stored. Main player is a vault dweller who's spouse, also a vault dweller, left the vault for reasons a few months prior to the begining of the game, and the "main" mission is looking for them. There's a nearby town with a sort of western theme going on, the locals direct your character to ask the local Marshal about your missing spouse, the Marshal being your first available companion character. John Wayne/Matt Dillon esque law man type. Strict, but caring. The joke ends up being he never intended on being the local lawman and that his name actually is Marshal so folks sort of nominated him into the position based on that alone. The prevailing "antagonist" group is this one relatively new warband group of raiders that come from the mountain ranges that call themselves The Rockies, named after the mountain range where they live. The ultimate story twist is that the leader of this raider group is actually the missing spouse, and the player character has to decide to either take them out and eliminate the raiders, join them, or take them out and take over as the new raider boss. The B plot tie in is that every active faction is looking for "Cheyenne", a local military base said to contain a master computer program to control all the military bases in the area. During the game the player character is contacted by a character named Cheyenne via their pip boy who claims to know about the base and asks for your help. Cheyenne turns out to be an AI designed to run the military bases but has become self aware and actually wants you to shut her down because she doesn't want to be used as a weapon, so big game decision #2 is choosing to use Cheyenne to control the nuclear armed military bases or shutting her down, permanently disarming and shutting down the bases.

I've never played thug's mods but I could see Preston turning bad if things went just a bit differently. He already was willing to do suicide missions because he's seen the Minutemen fall apart, if something pushed him to believe the Minuteman's mission was a lie all along it would tip him over the edge. Not that I trust any mod authors to do that idea justice.

Fallout: North 40 (or other options include Fallout: Washington or Fallout: Cascade)
Taking place in the in the North-west USA about 2255-2265, you play as an ex-enclave soldier seeking to shelter from the bounties of the NCR. The map which goes from the Olympic Peninsula (pulling from what we know of Fallout: Extreme) and as far east as northern Idaho (allowing for biomes) with the south-west having some small NCR camps from where they expanded north and Seattle or Olympia having actual settlement similar to fallout 4 but more pronounced. Western washington would be pretty barren and empty due to being settled and actually picked over (think how the vegas area was kinda picked over). In the Eastern section (east of the cascades) there would be raider tribes (actual tribes like as seen in NV) and it would be rather un-settled. Fairchild, Everet, and Kitsap being your "Nuked zone" ghoul hotspots, Probably having the Tri-cities be your Mutie zone (as is a must have anymore, populated with Gen 1 and 2 western Muties) and Spokane having a secret Enclave base under it (There's a conspiracy theory that the US military has a large underground base under the city, think like the switchboard but the size of the Oil rig). The enclave will function as the bad guy faction (again, obviously, though joinable), and whoever the Seattle/Olympia faction is will serve as the "good guys". Your mission is that you've somewhat settled in the area of outer seattle and one of your old buddies has contacted you to inform you of this group of "your old friends" on the east side of the Commonwealth. Have the conflict be over some unlaunched nukes in the east side that the west faction wants to control and the enclave already does control.

Set it all up in the 4/76 engine but redo the skills into that of 3/NV and you have a good game ripe for roleplaying. Throw in some of the mid-west BOS somewhere on the east side for flavor and perfect.

Fallout 5 has you playing in the south east near the border of Georgia and Florida. A malfunctioning geck is causing the flora to grow out of control and spread across the area. Conflict also has arisen between a BoS chapter looking for the geck and the local tribals who are slowly forming city-states while a threat of Caesar's Legion remnant force arrives in the area to start it's own empire. In the game you'll start in a small village, waking up from a unconsciousness after being attacked by raiders. You'll have options between 3 background choices. (tribal, BoS initiate, vault dweller)

Is that a jab at New Vegas, you piece of shit? Because New Vegas was designed (not initially, but they ran out of time) to be a linear experience which emphasises quests over free-range exploration. I like both approaches. But, pretending no post-game content (in a map which was clearly not designed for sandbox gameplay) is a bad thing is just an uninformed opinion. A post-game in New Vegas wouldn't make sense since, you do the post-game quests, now what? Linger in a shit map? You'll need high Intelligence if you want robot companions with Robotics Expert, otherwise you can dump those intelligence points on Endurance or Strength (I still highly recommend using Chemist). Same if you prefer Lone Wanderer, dump those Charisma points into either Endurance or Strength.

SPECIAL goal: 10/4/7/8/9/1/1
For starting SPECIAL I like going with 5/3/5/6/7/1/1 but I also like collecting the bobbleheads. If you'd rather skip that for now then you should go 5/3/4/6/8/1/1 (use "You're Special!" on Intelligence and get Nuclear Physicist as soon as you can).

If you don't want to use power armor for now (you can use regular armor and ballistic weave) there's a really fun build with Heavy Gunner + Big Leagues + Blitz:
SPECIAL goal: 7/4/7/8/8/9/1
Starting SPECIAL: 5/3/4/6/6/3/1

If you don't want companions you could dump those Charisma points into Luck for this build. Heavy Gunner + Big Leagues + Blitz + crit perks is the ultimate power trip build imho.

It's like SimCity but for settlements. Designate plots, they build themselves. Given enough manpower and resources and you can make a fancy village with minimal effort. There's some micromanaging involved but you can disable/automate certain options via holotape or mod menu. SS2 in particular has an extensive quest line which is considered some of the best available fan content for Fallout 4.

You build by using "plots" that are like residential and commercial zones in a city builder, and those plots build themselves and upgrade over time, instead of you manually building everything. I use Horizon, since it makes the commonwealth feel as desolate as Bethesda tries to portray it and the knockout feature makes dying feel actually punishing, especially in the early game. It's an overhaul mod so it might not work with most mods without a patch and you're gonna need to do some settlement building even if you don't like it since its pretty involved with the crafting system.

It's honestly not bad but I think it's not only not really what Fallout ought to be (in my opinion), but it's also in sort of weird uncanny valley where they haven't hung onto enough stuff to balance it out but they've hung onto too much to fully develop the 50s-centric artstyle. Raiders in Fallout 4 base game, for example, are not only ugly but also horribly generic because Bethesda is married to the idea of "raider" as part of the set of iconography and basic concepts to make something "Fallout". but if they make it too punk or too tribal or too S&M leatherman, then that detracts from the 1950s World of Tomorrow vibe. But if they go all the way with the 50s then they lose that little nugget of "post-apocalypse" and becomes unrecognizable as a "raider". So you end up with the unflavored slurry of a dirty guy wearing rusty pipes over his rags and a mohawk because that's the most generic option. It also doesn't help that Bethesda is master of the art of picking the worst of their concept art to fully realize and then realizing it in the worst way possible

I agree with you, Bethesda steering into the 50's thing is missing the point. It was meant to be a backdrop, and the aesthetic of the game should be gritty and represent the new world growing out of the ashes of the old one, instead of recycling and reusing the same aesthetic from literal centuries before. The entirety of fo4's art style is scrappy junker style mixed with bladerunner noir tech. Its not meant to be 1/2/NV's style. You can say you dislike it or that you prefer the older more industrialized look but to say that its missing a post war aesthetic or that they're missing the point of the OG is just wrong.

I didn't have a Slug Buster, but I did have an Ari 50c less vats plasma rifle on another mule. I wasn't about to do all of Rose's questline AGAIN just to do the raider questline for a gun.

Anyhoo, a few mod tweaks later and I had myself a nice ol' Plasma Uzi. Good lord this thing slaps. It has so much more ammo capacity than pipes, lasers, 10mms, and its harder. Only way I could improve it would be to get an Enclave Variant but that would be a pain in the ass with rolling, and good luck finding an Enclave variant with a pistol grip with those rolls. I like Guerilla build because all of my perception cards are used for other things, like glow sight, tank killer, grenadier, exterminator, etc. Re-arranging all those perks becomes a hassle.

As someone who dislikes pronoun stuff, I think the Starfield "controversy" is a tad overblown. Its an option in character creation and that's it. I don't think Starfield even has many, if any, trans characters. Fallout 76 on the other hand is more like pic related with their LGBT shit shoved in your face. This year they at least put it in the back of the atom shop than in the front.

Now, Nexus banning people who make mods to remove the option...yeah, that's cringe and gay. The thing I find weirdest about Starfield is that the cities are like 70% black. That's not diversity no matter what the libs tell you.

As far as I know there's only one and its like a person who is a female clone of a man. Which considering our boy Divayth Fyr from Morrowind isn't really that crazy. Most of the pronoun shit seems like overblown grifting. Seems like the pronouns themselves have basically no relevancy in game since most of bethesdas games are written almost entirely to be gender neutral in how they refer to the player so they don't have to revoice a ton of dialogue.

Side note, I have tried using literally all of the CC content before and the game completely breaks. Anyone else have that issue? It seems like I can only have 20 of them active at a time, including the paints. And Minutemen vs Gunmen completely breaks. If Bethesda does an anniversary edition next month like they did with Skyrim, it's going to be a shitshow. Maybe I'll back up my .exe now. As it has been said millions of times, the CC stuff is a waste of potential.

True Storms has a weather effect that spawns ghoul hordes. It was a little wonky when I used it but that was years ago.
