The thing here is that this is Nemlei's biggest project so far. Other games had kind of a dark humor to them fitting for something short where you don't expext something too crazy as a reader.
In Coffin for the bad endings we could possibly see something that's depressing not just in concept/idea but also in mood and delivery, rather that it being attached to dark humor.

The only game of hers with an outright bad ending is Candy Scabs. The rest have more lukewarm endings where its up to you to determine which is better (No Merge FTW!).
But to answer your question, I'd say the worst possible ending is Andrew falling in love with another girl, Ashley killing the girl out of anger and making Andrew hate her, then Andrew leaves and Ashley kills herself. Then the game ends with Andrew being totally alone in the world, with no other hussy that can relate to his cannibal murder story and no dearest little sister to keep him company

Ashley would never kill herself unless Andrew was dead. She's going to find out about his night terrors, his guilty conscience, his remorse. Once the initial high of escaping Ashley fades he'll start to miss her more and more sorely by the day. He can't tell his girlfriend that he murdered a child with his sister's help when he was little, so he'll be forever forced to repress his emotions until it becomes too much and he breaks down. There is no possible situation wherein any woman other than Ashley is best for Andrew.

Actually, it's the opposite. It's because people will see right through him that Andrew will never be able to have a healthy relationship. No one needs a man who is physically unable to take responsiblity for anything, and that's exactly what Andrew is. He needs Ashley because he can blame her for everything.
It's never his fault, he was forced/manipulated/mind controlled/whatever into it, you see. That heckin' Ashley always bullying poor Andrew into complying.

The whole point of the ending argument is that Andrew is going to change as a person, they both will. Obviously I'm not saying they're going to drift apart, but since there is a hussy dating route, its pretty clear that Andrew has the option of becoming more independent. It was Andy who just did whatever Ashley told him to, and Andrew hates that guy

I wonder what Ashley's character arc is meant to be. Its pretty clear what Andrews is, since he wants to be able to be his own man with or without her. All I can think of for Ashley is changing how brother-crazy she is. The issue is that having her stop being crazy seems like too much of a change to be believable (and Nemlei never gives fully happy endings), so I expect the hussy route to bring Ashley immense suffering. And of course the incest route seems antithetical to her becoming less crazy about Andrew. Maybe her love will remain high but she'll just cool down a few degrees. She still wants total hussy death, but is kinder to her dear brotherhusband

It'll be a tug of war between them fighting for control in the relationship as Andrew becomes more ruthless and Ashley fears losing him and is disturbed by his change in personality, she's used to a pushover, not a killer. The ultimate act will be them coming to terms with their taboo feelings for each other and the relationship becomes "healthier" but they're still crazy. This won't happen in the Hussy route but only subhumans will pick that so who cares.

Did you even play Better Half, Divlethion, or No Good Noelle? In all of them, the main character spends almost the whole time being kinda unhappy. I didn't say the games were serious case studies of the human condition. But in all of them the MC isn't okay, they aren't doing well. And none of the endings of those games are fully good, they all have some damper. Its one of the best parts of Nemlei's games, there is no Marvel ending and its up to the player to decide which sacrifices constitute a good ending. I like incest, but to pretend that Coffin is going to end with Andrew and Ashley walking into the sunset with a happy incest family is nonsense. Whether or not Andrew chooses Ashley is going to accompany some major and serious repercussion, that is the theme of ALL of Nemlei's romances.

The characters in this game are clearly not normal, not just in their relationship with each other, but in their relationship with their parents. In what little we are shown of their parents, they seem pretty abusive, or at least neglectful. It's not entirely clear what's going on with the organ harvesting and outside world. Even a sociopath would think twice about selling their adult children for their organs versus other options to exploit their children if that's their desire. It costs a lot of money and time to raise a child to adulthood. Admittedly, I've never gone shopping for black market organs, maybe they really are that valuable, but I doubt it.

My pet theory about this game is that Ashley is an unreliable narrator and most of what we've seen didn't actually happen, or at least not the way it was shown. If that's the case that's pretty interesting and not something most games even attempt.

Now we need to see just by how much will progress slow down. Nemlei appears confident she can get episodes 3A and 3B all released next year. So presumably we'll get the first one in winter or spring. I'm going to miss monthly devlogs but I hope we get one every 2-3 months. My guess is that Andrew was more social and outgoing even with his dour cranky attitude, on account of his handsomeness and relative normalcy he would find social situations pretty easy and women (hussies) would flock to his boyish looks. Ashley was probably a mean girl that hung out with the bitches in school/college/work and was better at putting up a front to hide her true self. I imagine that some men would have been drawn to her but she's such a fanatic for her brother (soulmate) that she would either try to scare them off or show zero interest but would use them to make Andrew jealous and uncomfortable. Both were probably a bit weird and viewed with suspicion by their peers, I'm curious to see how their relationship would be perceived by their "friends" before the quarantine. Ashley definitely had a reputation beforehand, maybe they were even outcasts or isolated from others.

Funny story, actually. Police case, homicide. A man was found with a single gunshot wound to the wrist with no exit wound. The wound showed little bleeding. Yet, the man died.
The cause of death? A bullet to the heart.

Andrew is not as normal as he likes to believe and he is still very much in that mental space of being "Andy", the deadly doormat that does anything Leyley wants even if he resents it. Seeing the growth of their relationship from Andrew's perspective will be vital because Ashley would take very little prodding by comparison to embrace a forbidden love while Andrew would balk at the idea. Ashley isn't seemingly aware of any romantic or sexual feelings for Andrew yet but that will obviously change over time. The key is making that catharsis of their relationship feel natural while at the same time absurd. That's really hard to do without it seeming like forced, gratuitous wish fulfillment, but you also want to give the sister/brotherlovers what they want without making it seem uncanny. What will make it complete kino is both Andrew and Ashley coming to realize their feelings in tandem but neither expressing them to each other or being aware of the other's intentions until much later on. Them coming to support each other in earnest while still being toxic, having the newfound clarity of their experience in the apartment to realize just how shitty their parents and peers are and how they need each other now more than ever, it's literally the both of them versus the world. From there, it blossoms into something much more lurid. It'll still likely be a case of the incest ending being kind of sinister but cute, with Andrew full embracing "Andy" in his new life.

The way I would do it is that there would be a section where they have a huge falling out and split ways. Andy would go off and find some floozy to take him in briefly. He would soon realise this girl can't take the bants his sister could, doesn't understand what it's like to kill a person, he can't confide in her, she can't comfort him, and he eventually realises that there's no-one who understands him, and appreciates him, like Ashley does.
This is pretty much already alluded to in the game, but usually his sister is still around and messes up the relationship for him, which deep down he secretly realises he actually wanted her to do. The breaking point would be that this time, he would have to do it himself, and return to Ashley without any excuse of "well YOU meddled in my love life"

I definitely think this will happen, would be extra good irony considering that they then become "Mr and Mrs. Graves" in a romantic sense. BR siblings? Assume by "the most popular stuff", you mean Oreimo and Mahouka then. Beyond those four there isn't much in the way of BR sibling incest in anime that is central to the story while getting a satisfactory ending. Closest thing that comes to mind is Selector Infected Wixoss which has one of the main girls in love with her twin brother and play the magic card game to get him to fall in love with her which she succeeds in doing, but with a twist, but their romantic plotline mostly gets put on the backburner after episode 7-8 or so until the 2nd season's ending where they're shown together.

Maybe OnK ends the drought after all these years, but that's still very much up in the air, even if the most recent chapters seem promising.

Seconding this anon's recommendation of Selector Infected, it's very good. Unfortunately there's really just not that much in the way of satisfyingly sibling anime/manga, I recommend looking into visual novels to get your fix. There are a decent amount of vns with BR sister routes.

Alright, I got it. For some arcane reason, Petschko's decrypter works fine for only the original version of the game. After the major update, the decrypter stopped working.

Alright, I got it again. The precise reason that the PNG files are invalid is that there is a number of superfluous bytes inserted at the start of the IHDR chunk's data section. How many? It varies. It's a weird fucking error, but it's quite easy to fix using a hex editor. If you cut out the bytes, the file becomes valid. You don't need anything beyond a very cursory understanding of the PNG format. I could even write a program to do it if I really wanted to.
