>>487933182>If you are really doing the best you can to improve, that is.There are hard limits to human ability, which is why half of Saints used Gold and why many Celestials are suspects of win trading. It's not just a thing in MajSoul either, every competitive game has this same problem.
>it's just confidence broIt's genetics.
Even if you had infinite time to play Mahjong you may never be skilled enough to be Celestial. It's not like an RPG and it's not like your shounen manga.
>I was just giving an example of the way people use the word. It doesn't change the definition. But there are stories with bad endings, and bittersweet ones.In stories with bad endings there is always a sequel or something else to milk the franchise. Great example is using Capeshit. One or two stories will have bad endings, but then another story will come along to fix it.
Bittersweet endings still have the good guys win in the end.
My point is that media isn't really as compelling as you think it to be based on the stakes. And drawing parallels between this and mahjong is that it's not about how skilled the player is. It's about how kino the player is and who he is in the community.
Who is the better mahjonger:
An Adeptchad who keeps failing out of Expert, but impregnates several mahjong pros and lands himself into a controversy resulting in his legendary status.
or
The Saint who does nonstop grinding of WWYDs just so he can git gud.
