I've tried fortnite after this trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CZC4gXVuKc andI actually had fun playing it. Fun. I don't even like cartoon artstyle, but it was still fun. I had fun, instead of malding about cheaters, rollers, shit matchmaking, dead balance, shit skins, shit events, shit recolors, shit servers, fresh batch of bugs, prices. I've been playing apex since release, and all I see is a festering corpse of a game I liked.

I've gotten to the point I've just started recognizing when things are going to go to shit, usually by subtle things my retard teammates do, and just running immediately and letting them act as distractions.
It's working well for me.

Was playing earlier today and was expecting to see players like you see in those clips of Kraber 360 noscope flying across the map clips, but as tthe other anon said, a lot of people don't have movement down. if you can slide jump and chain a couple of wall runs AND track your targets, you're already ahead of others. Still, play some Frontier Defence if you feel intimidated by the pacing. You'll be surprised at how familiar it is despite the higher tempo of play.
