i don't intend to play this version ever again, i'll stick with vanilla
hero mode was okay, mostly just a huge inconvenience but it was a different way to play it, i didn't have any deaths on record but i did "die" a couple times where crazy tracy's medicine saved me
didn't hate the art style, it was mostly fine, but i hated the mechanical changes
boomerang doesn't kill the boss instantly, rooster and boomerang combo doesn't work at all, etc, there's probably a billion other mechanical changes that i hated and can't remember (but oh yeah you can't jump over 2 tile pits with just feather, wtf)
for all the complaining people do about vanilla having way too much pausing, i don't think it was alleviated much even when 3 buttons are always assigned, just because roc's feather is the most important item and that's not one that is always assigned
that's the first time i ever did color dungeon, it was alright i guess, but the game might be a bit too easy with permanent double power?
don't feel like i'll be missing anything by going back to only playing the original version of this, it's hard to think of anything good this added besides the animated scenes at the beginning and the end
i didn't hate it, link's awakening is still one of my favorite games, but for a game i've replayed dozens of times basically any change is going to be too much, and there were a LOT of small changes just enough to make me into a moody mess when something wasn't behaving how it should
s'alright remake, just pointless when original is already masterpiece
