One of the exceptions to this is Gon though, whose attitude scares away the lowlife scum that read shounen manga. Gon, and his complex struggles, are one of the many reasons why Hunter X Hunter is considered Soft Seinen. Someone like Kishimoto could only dream of writing a character as good as Gon, and even if he hypothetically had the creative mind to do so, he would be too scared of the potential backlash from the bums that read average shounen.
Bravo Togashi, you have created not only a phenomenal manga, but also one of the greatest characters throughout all of fiction.
