They're just delaying the process, which is often times worse. My parents were similar in trying to get me to avoid things with "evil" themes, certainly Japanese media, too. I did it anyways, though, and they just somewhat accepted that I could make my own choices without becoming some druggie sex (ha) addict. I went to Christian school up through graduation, too. In some ways shielded me from the world, in other ways not. While I never became an atheist per se, I'm certainly no good Christian, either. I honestly haven't thought about it in a long time. I ought to do some thinking and self-reflecting sometime soon.
