Yeah, I just love old things with a sort of passion. Not to mention there were some great switches years ago that don't get made anymore, though the IBM buckling spring design is still in production. You're right; a lot of people are using PS/2 to USB converters and whatnot. The most annoying thing about PS/2 is that you can't hot swap keyboards and the little pins bend terribly easily.

I chose it because I haven't even opened a PC game in a long while, though I imagine that if I do get back into PC gaming, I'd probably go with clicky switches instead of just tactile ones because I personally prefer the sound. Cherry MX Browns I've heard have a really nice key feel, though.
Fuck, I know. The Model M has a steel back plate that weighs over a pound; I swear it's extremely tempting to just hit something with it because the damn thing just feels indestructible. Even better, the keycaps are made with PBT plastic, so they won't start yellowing when exposed to UV light like most old ABS plastic keyboards.
