There times and places for anonymous discussion and chans are it, I am glad they exist at least. Its the level of identity I like most times where identity is ephemeral, optional and removable and etc.
Registration is actually better if its difficult because it discourages multiple accounts or bots and etc. If there were foolproof ways to keep bots out and make bans always permanent then there would be less necessity for involved registration.
