saga 2 was a game, of sorts
it again wasn't a very well designed game, but it tried to refine a bit how 1 went by slowing the progression down a lot, making it harder to get overpowered
unfortunately the balance felt all over the place with the amount of monsters, i seriously don't understand why there's single target attacks when an encounter is five to FRICKIN FIFTY monsters, meaning attacks that hit all are basically what needs to be spammed the whole game, and not much else matters till the final boss
i absolutely did not enjoy going from 12 hours of playtime to 20 hours of playtime just to prepare to fight the final boss and redo my characters and their stats for it
most of the game felt pretty cruise control due to spell spamming dominating every encounter, there were only 3 or 4 bosses that made the situation feel like it need to be reassessed, but nothing like the final boss which pretty much tells you "you played your characters wrong, start over"
story was silly and fun, chasing dad everywhere was a good time and slowly learning of his adventures and why the world is the way it was
could definitely tell that apollo was going to be a jerk just from having his own theme, all the "new gods" stuff was interesting though hardly felt original
really liked going through all the different worlds, fantasy to sci-fi again, and collecting artifacts though, the map features being enabled slowly was REALLY neat, and feels like a missed opportunity (though it would have been too frustrating) that they didn't steal your map features at the point where you need to part ways with the artifacts
i think the thread stuff is only for ds? those stained glass ladies were pretty, i would have wanted to know more of what they were, their speeches about fate's ability to change, or not change, had a super weird vibe
the muses were kind of funny too, was good when they'd interrupt a fight and do nothing very effective, or just outright revive the party when things are going super bad
i had fun, but i also was frustrated about the last boss feeling as if were superboss tier in something else
