3 was definitely where they truly got bored of making more Spyro levels and decided to focus on doing a bunch of weird stuff on the side.
And combined with the bloating and splitting of levels into multiple zones that leaves a lot of the real deal Spyro levels feeling kind barren, and stylistically they stopped even pretending like there's any connection or progression between any of the levels.
But I think it's a tasty weird mess slurry all the same.
