That's right, you can never abolish hierarchy in any social space and every group will need a leader to function. However, where you need to think more is what about Royalty? Is it fair that somebody should be allowed to rule over masses of people, decide their lives and live above them all by birth right alone? Surely this too is madness, a leader should be elected by the people, someone who represents the people. And the seat of power cannot be in one person/family, it must be distributed among representatives of each major area of a country to represent the interests of the people in those areas. That is the fundamentals of a democratic system.
If you'd ask me it has many flaws but it is one of the best and most stable system where everybody can be heard.
