In January 17th 2019, Harley Flanagan posted on his Facebook bandpage the following message: "I will be touring as Cro-Mags, celebrating the 30-year anniversary of the Cro-Mags Best Wishes album. I own the trademarks for Cro-Mags and Cro-Mags is who I am. I created the name Cro-Mags in 1981 and (...) I have been Cro-Mags ever since, (...) I am CRO-MAGS". With this, as of January 2019, there were 2 versions of Cro-Mags; the one fronted by Harley Flanagan and consisting of his whole solo band, and the one fronted by John Joseph Bloodclot. For all intents and purposes, as both versions are still active and touring, the official status of the band is considered to be disputed.
On April 22nd, 2019, Harley Flanagan posted a video in his YouTube channel in which he explained that the name situation was finally settled, and that as of August 1st, 2019, John Joseph Bloodclot's version of the band will be renamed "Cro-Mags JM" and Harley Flanagan's version will take the name "Cro-Mags". For the time being between April 22nd and August 1st 2019, both bands will be using the name Cro-Mags.
