Sometimes there's long silences from the sleep king. Or almost silences. I think there were little fragments what came up elsewhere, but this time I got a whole thing smuggled out:
It started in an old-timey school, where everyone looked like they talked in old Hollywood Mid-Atlantic accents, where nothing much of interest happened. Just trying to make it through without getting screamed at by a teacher.
I left on a bus that went the opposite way of the usual one, still seeing some nearby to where I live outside the dream world places, but previously visited slightly off, dream world versions, before heading further out into parts of dream town I'd not seen before. I hopped off at a slightly unfamiliar stop and explored the town for a while, never quite going into any of the shops or buildings. Didn't quite feel like I would be welcome.
Pretty soon some militiamen started a real ruckus, chasing some supposedly dangerous criminal who was throwing bolts and metal bits around and shooting at the militia. (But that's barely a crime, right? They're basically just videos game guards.)
Anyway, I chased after the mystery criminal, who turned out to be a Stalker, from some previously unknown filmatization. The Stalker, frolicking like some kind of mad prophet went up a staircase in an old tunnel and we emerged in an old bombed out gothic city, strewn with debris and begasmasked (Is that a wordage?) corpses of militiamen. (Very Bloodporn. Not all that imaginative, Sleep King.)
Throwing the bolts and bits and rocks and bit of debris all over to avoid anomalies, we ran our way to a gothic cathedral of moderate size and both climbed the big stained glass side window with surprising ease. Toward the end of t he climb I notice the Stalker is morphing into a crab-like, squid-like critter, and I am, too, slowly. Must be why everyone else there had the protective gear on.
It's not too bad though. Who doesn't want to become a more cosmic kind of being?
We hide inside a fake dead fish on an awning of the cathedral. Very clever. I'm told I should go back before it's too late, and I refuse. Soon we descend and continue ecstatically frolicking around the deadly streets that might blow us apart with dimensional holes or whatever at any time, me barely keeping up with the Stalker, who actually knows the steps. Eventually in a nice shady corner, I'm taught throwing sand is even more effective than the rocks or bolts. Always keep some pocket sand handy I guess.
We sleep on piles of sand under the big moon in the burned out city. It's very romantic, and I continue to grow into something other than human. Needless to say, I never want to go back.
A bit more on the nose than the existing Stalker film. And could probably get away with just not declaring itself a Stalker thing.
